To all whom, it may concern;

Be it known that I, CHARLES A. HUssEY, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Magnetizing Boxes or Cases, of

which the following is a specification.

My present invention covers a specific form of magnetizing-box for the same purpose as the magnetizing-box covered by my Patent IO No. 559,176, granted April 28, 1896.

Magnetic articles when in constant use are apt to lose a portion of their magnetism.

The objectof my present invention is to provide a cheap and effective magnetizing con- I 5 taining case or box by means of which small articles, such as hair-pins, toys, and other articles, may be magnetized by being kept therein, or their magnetism restored and kept at the maximum simply by being placed within such magnetic case or box.

To this end my improvement consists in a new article of manufacture, namely, a box or case having a metallic bottom portion with upturned ends, which consists of a permanent magnet.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view with a portion of the side broken away, thus disclosing a portion of the permanent magnet,which latter 3o constitutes, in the form thus shown, the bottom of the magnetizing case or box. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the exterior and bottom of such magnetizing case or box, in which the white margin 1') is that portion of said case or box covered by paper, cloth, or other material from which the box or case is constructed.

is a detail perspective view of the magnetized part of the box, in which the poles of the per- 0 manent magnet constitute the ends of the magnetizing case or box.

The bottom A of the box is formed of metal with upturned ends, as shown, the sides being secured to the bottom by pasting the outside paper covering thereon and overlapping the edges of the bottom piece.

The poles of the case or its cover, or both, may be appropriately marked, either by being differently colored or by some other dis- 5o tinguishing characteristic, so that articles may be properly placed in the containing case or box, which may be struck up, if desired, out of sheet metal and properly magnetized, after being formed, or otherwise.

\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A containing case, box or receptacle having a metallic bottom and magnetized upturned ends, adapted to magnetize an article placed in the box, substantially as set forth.

2. An oblong containing case. box or receptacle adapted to receive and support in proper position articles such as hair-pins to be magnetized, and formed with a metallic bottom part having magnetized upturned ends, adapted to magnetize such articles, substantially as set forth.
