ATENT POCKET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 575,427, dated January 19, 189'?.

Application filed July l0, 1896.

To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, HERMAN KAUEMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements `in Pockets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such 'as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

. My invention relates to pockets.

My object is to provide an improved and simple' pocket for inens coats or vests of all varieties which, owing to its peculiar construction, will more satisfactorily prevent the pocket from being picked I-Iaving this object in view, my invention consists of a pocket comprising in its makeup certain improved features, as Will appear more fully from the following description and appended claim. p

In the accompanying drawing, the ligure is a longitudinal sectional view of my improved pocket'.

A designates the goods which constitutes the outer facing of the garment, and this is provided with a mouth B. C and D designate, respectively, the inner and outer walls of my improved pocket, which are connected together by stitching at their edges, and the upper ends of these walls are also stitched to a facing A around the mouth in the latter. The inner wall is made double, as it were, this being produced by two additional strips Serial No. 598,744. (No model.)

E and F, which meet, but are not connected together, along line G, thereby providing one pocket. A piece of cloth H is connected at its sides and bottom to the inner and outer walls and is provided at its upper end with a button I, and this partition forms two more pockets. A flap J, connected to the facing, is adapted to button over button I, so that the extreme outer pocket divided by the loose partition or wall and the outer Wall of the pocket is the only pocket Which is open, and as valuables are putin the other two pockets and the entrance of the latter closed by the flap it is impossible for the latter to be picked.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

As an article of manufacture, the hereindescribed pocket comprising inner and outer walls, partitions between said walls, the outermost one of which is solid, and the innermost one slitted vertically from top to bottom, a button connected to the upper end of the solid partition, and a iiap connected to the inner Wall and adapted to fasten over said button.
