FRANCIS M. HUBBARD, OF RIPON, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING-SEATS FOR CARRiAGES,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 56,753, dated July 31, 1866 of Springs for the Seats of Vehicles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings,
' made part of this specification.
Figure l is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 a section, of the seat.
My improvements are intended to be applied to all kinds of vehicles, and relate to the application of springs made from elastic bands to the seats.
A represents the body of a wagon of any kind, and B the seat. Beneath the seat I place two pieces, 0.
D D are levers, made of boards resting on the pieces G (J. The inner ends of these levers have projections fitted to receive and retain the rubber bands E E,which are secured by eyes to the bottom of the seat B. The outer ends of the levers are fitted to the top of the Wagon-bed, having shoulders to prevent lateral motion, and being retained by pins, or in any other convenient manner.
The springs are regulated in. number and size according to the circumstances.
Having fully explained the nature of my improvements, What I claim as my invention, and seek to secure by Letters Patent, is y A device for giving elasticity to the seats of vehicles by means of the levers D D, fulcrums O, and elastic bands E, combined and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
