Be it known that l, CHARLES V. HENKEL, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Rubber-Eraser Holder, oit' Which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object ci' this invention is to provide a superior device for holding rubber eraser-s, particularly those employed by type-Writer operatives and draftsmen for the erasure of ink lines; and its special object is to provide a holder by which the eraser may be securely and firmly held even when Worn to a very small size. This end I attain by means of a ilat case having a portion of its edge open, and through which edge the eraser may project, the case being flexible adjacent to its open edge and being provided With a clamping device which is attached to the eraser, and which is capable of pressing the flexible portions of the case into firm engagement with the eraser, whereby the eraser is held.

The invention will be fully described hereinafter and finally embodied in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying dra-Wings, formingapart of this speciiication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

In the form 'of my invention shown in the drawings, the case a is circular and provided with a closed edge h and an open edge c, the the two edges, respectively, occupying onehalf of the periphery of the case; and the half to which the open edge is devoted is formed on each side with a radial slot d, said slots being oppositely arranged and adapted to carry a headed pin e, on which a nut f operates.

Fig. 2 shows in f ull lines the eraser extended beyond the edge c, so as to expose a portion of the eraser for use. In practice it will not be necessary to extend the eraser as far as the full lines in Fig. 2 show. In this view the circular dotted line g shows the eXtreme outward position which the eraser may ocoupy.

It will be apparent that the form of the case a may be variously changed to accommodate varying forms of the eraser.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. An eraser-holder consisting of a circular Case, a portion of the periphery of which is open and the case being iieXible adjacent to said open portion and Vformed With radial slots, and a pin adjustably movable in said slots, the pin being capable of mounting the eraser so as to have complete axial movement and of pressing the flexible portions of the case against opposite sides of the eraser, substantially as described.

2. An eraser-holder having a ease, a portion of the edge of Which has an opening, the case being nexible adjacent to the opening, and a clamping device carried by the case and adjustable toward and from the opening, the clamping device being capable of connection With a rubber and also of pressing the flexible edges of the case against the rubber, substantially as described.

3. An eraser-holder having a case, a portion of the edge o which is open, the case being flexible adjacent to the opening and formed with radial slots, and a pin adjusted in the slots, the pin being capable of carrying the eraser and having means by which the roo exible portions of the case may be clamped against the eraser, substantially as described.

4. An eraser-holder having a case formed With an opening in its edge and having a slot extending from the center of the case outwardly adjacent to the edge having the opening, and means movable in the slot, the means being capable of pivotally carrying an eraser whereby the eraser may be adjusted toward and from the edge of the case and may turn freely to present all of its edges for use, substantially as described.
