HOOK FOR 'JOINERS BENCHES.
Speccaton of Letters Patent No. 5,619, dated June 6, 1848.
To all lwhom t may concern Be it known that I, PRoCToR P. Cownns, of Cabotville, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved RotaryBench-Hook; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and eXact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification.
The bolt or screw A A has a round smooth surface one half of its length so as to make a complete fit to the cylinder B B at the top, the lower half of which has a screw fitted to a female screw on the inner surface of the cylinder B B, by which it can be raised or dropped by a turn with the lingers, and made fast by a turn of the binder E against the cylinder B B.
The cylinder B B has a large round head which is sunk in the bench to the plane of its surface, and firmly fixed by a turn of the washer nut C against the under surface of the bench. The cylinder B B also has a counter sink suliicient to receive the hook A which is attached to the bolt A which passes through the cylinder B B and can be raised as aforesaid or dropped to the surface of the bench at pleasure.
The hook A attached to the bolt A is so constructed as to meet a two fold purpose, that of a hook and a smooth stop, and is made square with teeth on two sides, and smooth on the sides so that it may be used for the nicest work without marring its surface. v
