EDl/VARD M. BRIGIIAM, OF BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN.
DRESS-DISPLAY FORM.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters ZPatent No. 561 ,371, dated June 2, 1896. Application filed August 25, 1891. -$eriel No. 403,7d7. (No model.)
To a whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD M. BRIGHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dress Exhibition Forms; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
This invention relates to inflatable and collapsible forms for the display of corsets and other goods; and it consists in certain novel peculiarities of construction and uses, substantially as hereinafter pointed out and claimed.
The particular object of my invention, as distinguished from similar forms hitherto known and used, consists in the provision of a neat, compact, and practical collapsible and inflatable form that shall be rigid when inflated and capable of preserving its contour without distortion under usual conditions, and for theaccomplishment of these purposes I employ a material that shall be nonelastic and yet capable of collapse and inflation at will.
The accompanying drawing represents a vertical section. of an exhibitor that embodies my invention.
A represents the form made airtight and flexible, but of non-elastic material.
Leading into the interior of the form is a tube a, provided with an inwardly-opening stop-valve ca, for the usual and well-known purposes of affording suitable facilities for inflation by filling the form with air. The form A is also provided with a vertical tube 4", preferably made of rigid non-elastic fabric, and which is secured to the base A. This tube is passed over the top of a pedestal for a support to the form when inflated.
From the foregoing, considered in the light of the illustration, it may be readily seen by those skilled in the art to which my invention is applicable that I have provided a collapsible and inflatable form that will maintain the required shape for such purposes under all ordinary conditions without that distortional destruction hitherto met with.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- As an improved article of manufacture, a non-elastic inflatable and collapsible form, its body portion of firm fabric impervious to the atmosphere, a tube located vertically thereof for engagement with a vertical standard, and an inflating-tube provided with a look-valve, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWVARD M. BRIGHAM.
