Description

(No ModeL) I A. 0. HASLEWOODIV.
FUNNEL HOLDER. No. 556,055. Patented Mar. 10, 1896.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT OCTAVIUS IIASLEVOOD, OF BUXTON, ENGLAND.
FUNNEL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 556,055, dated March 10, 1896.
Application filed July 8, 1895. Serial No. 555,244. (No model.) Patented in England November 21, 1894,11'0. 22,525, and in Belgium June 17, 1895,110. 116,106.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT OCTAVIUS HAsLEwooD, a subject of the Queen of Great -Britain and Ireland, residing at 11 Terrace Road, Buxton, in the county of Derby, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Funnel-Holders, (for which I have obtained patents in England, No. 22,525,dated November 21, 1894, and in Bel gium, No. 116,106, dated June 17, 1895;) and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a new or improved device which I designate the spare hand, and which has for its object to facilitate the operations of dispensing, whereby considerable time may be saved, and which can be further used for filling wine-bottles or decanters and decanting wines, &c., from casks, while it affords a cleanly and handy means of transferring liquid, solid or powdered substances from one receptacle to another.
In carrying my invention into practical effect I form a device which consists of a circular, rectangular, or other suitably-shaped frame having an opening at one side for the entrance of the bottle, decanter, jar or the like, and furnished with two or more legs projecting upward from the same, which carry a light frame suitably shaped for supporting a funnel, while the base is weighted so as to prevent it being accidentally turned over. The said device may be made in various sizes, and when required for use the bottle is placed within same, or in the case of the base being solid the bottle would be placed upon it, while the funnel having been placed in the aforementioned supporting-frame is then in a suitable position for filling or passing ingredients into the bottle, and all bubbling and splashing would be prevented, as the funnel does not rest upon the neck of the bottle, and the air is thus allowed to freely escape.
In order that my invention may be more fully understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved device, and Fig. 2 a plan of same.
My improved device consists of a circular base I) furnished at one side with an opening 0, through which the bottle or the like to be filled is passed to the space 8 within. This base is furnished with arms a a a carrying a light frame f designed to hold or support a funnel of the ordinary kind, while the baseframe I) is furnished with or has attached to it weights to w, of lead or other suitable material, so as to prevent it from being readily turned over.
The frame or base 1), although shown of circular form, may be of any other convenient shape, such as square, triangular or hexagonal, While the device may be made in various sizes, according to the purpose for which it is primarily intended.
Having now described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A funnel-holder comprising a weighted base portion having an opening at one side for the insertion of a bottle, curved arms projecting upwardly from the said base, and a conical ring f supported by the said arms and operating to support a funnel over the bottle, substantially as set forth.
2. A funnel holder comprising a base, weights secured to the base and preventing the funnel-holder from being readily overturned, outwardly-curved and inwardly-converging arms secured to the said base, and a small conical ring f supported by the said arms, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT OOTAVIUS HASLEWOOD.
