This invention consists in attaching to the lower end of a mop-handle a clamp or holder of peculiar construction for holding a cloth placed in it, and is so arranged as to hold, without change or adjustment of its parts, various sizes of clothes, large and small.
The construction of this invention is very simple, as I will now describe.
It consists in attaching to the handle A two wires, B and C. These wires extend outward from the handle and form a pair of loops. The inner ends of these wires turn into the handle A, and one of them, B, is fastened to it by the ferrule E and the projections a a on the inner ends. The other wire, 0, is free to slide outward, slots 1) I) being cut in the handle A, so that the projections C C may slide freely therein. This wire C being pulled out, the cloth D is inserted into the loop in the wire 0 and passed up over the wire B and down between the wires B and C. The wire C is then slid down, thus fastening the cloth and holding it firmly by acting as a spring on the wire B. By varying the distance between the wires B and C, by sliding C outward, almost any size of cloth may be held.
This simple arrangement may be used not only as a mop for floors, 850., but on a smaller scale for washing dishes and other household operations, and is compact, cheaply built, and from its simplicity not liable to get out of order or be broken.
Now, having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The cloth-holder for mop-handles herein described when constructed and arranged substantially in the manner set forth.
