DRAPERY RACK OR STAND.

To all whom it may concern..-

. Be it known that I, MORRIS A. HEIMANN, of the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drapery Racks or Stands, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.

The object of this invention is -to provide improved means for supporting drapery in various positions in which it is desired to exhibit said drapery.

This invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter set forth, and pointed out in my claim.

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a complete device in a position for practical use. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are perspective views illustrating modified positions of my device.

In the construction of the device as shown the numeral designates a base. The superstructure is composed of boards 13, 14, 15,

and 16, provided with battens 17 on their ends,

tongued and grooved thereto. Two of the battens 17 17 on the boards 13 16 are approximated and connected by means of hinges 18 18. Two of the battens on the boards 14 are approximated and secured by hinges 19 19. The side portions of the boards 13 14 are approximated and secured by hinges 2O 20. The side portions of the boards 1516 are approximated and secured by hinges 21 21. The hinges 1818 are located in vertical planes about midway between the side portions of the boards 13 16, and the hinges 19 19 are located in close proximity to the side portions of the boards 14 15. There is thus provided a supporting-form in four sections hinged together and adapted for differential positioning and folding two sections toward two opposite sections, either longitudinally or transversely, as shown in Fig. 1.

In the practical use of the invention I employ a number of the devices and position them as shown in Fig. 1 under some circumstances and as shown in Figs. 3 and 4 under other circumstances. When positioned as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the base 10 is removed and the folding boards are employed as trestles, upon which is supported another folding board, as shown by dotted lines. It is obvious that a large number of positions may thus be obtained with devices of the same size, as is required to effectively and satisfactorily display drapery.

What I claim is-- A drapery-form, comprising four separate sections 13, 14, 15 and 16, hinged connections between the sections 13-14; hinged connections between the sections 15-16; hinged connections between the said sections 13-16, and hinged connections between the sections 14-15, whereby any two of said sections may be simultaneously folded toward two opposite sections, to change the form of the device, substantially asspecified.
