.State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame-Tug Attachments, of which the following is a speciicaton.

My invention relates to a haine-tug attachment or a device for attaching the tug to the hanne of a harness; and the object of my invention is to provide a device'of the above description which shall be of very simple construction and very cheap and durable, and which can be attached to any haine of ordinary construction and receive the forward end of the tug, which will be secured thereto and will have a swivel or oscillating motion in a vertical plane. My invention consists in certain novelfeatures of construction of my hame-tug attachment, as will be hereinafter fully described, and the nature thereof indicated by the claim.

Referring to the drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of my hame-tug attachment.v

A portion of the hame, collar, and tug is shown in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line 2 2, Fig. l, looking in the direction of arrow a, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows the attachingplate without the tug-loop. A portion of the plate is broken away. Fig. 4 shows the tugloop detached.

In the accompanying drawingsIhaveshown by broken lines in Figs. l and 2 a portion of the collar l and a portion of the hame 2, with which my tug-attachment is combined. Said attachment consists of a metal plate 3, preferably made of sheet metal and of the shape shown, having the rearward portion 3 curved in cross-section, as shown in Fig. 2, to t on t'he swell of the collar and protect the same from any rubbing or wear of the tug, and the forward dat portion 3, extending at an angle to the curved portion 3, to fit on the hanne, to which it is secured by screws (not shown) eX- tending through holes 4 in the portion 3".

Extending forwardly from the fiat portion 3 of the plate 3 is a portion 3', which is bent rearwardly and extends substantially parallel to the middle portion of the plate 3, as shown in Fig. 2. Located between the main portion of the plate 3 and the rearwardly-extending portion 3 is a block 5, which is preferably of circular shape and made separate from the plate 3 and secured thereto by rivets 5, as shown in Fig. The block 5 is of reduced diameter at its upper end to form a boss 5.

The tug-loop-t is preferably made of the shape shown in Fig. 4, having the opening 6 therein, which is adapted to fit loosely on the boss 5', as shown in Fig. 2, and the rearwardlyextending arms 6, provided with openings in their outer ends, in which is secured the bolt 7, in this instance by'a nut 8. On the bolt 7 is loosely mounted a sleeve 9, adapted to receive the inner end of the tug l0, as shown by broken lines, Fig. 2. The tug-loop is held in place on the boss 5', to swivel or turn freely thereon in a vertical plane, by a rivet 11, which extends through the plate 3, the block 5, and the rearwardly-extending portion 3 of theplate 3, as shown in Fig. 2.

From the above description, in connection with the drawings, the operation of my hametug attachment will be readily understood by thoseskilled in the art, and the advantages of the same will be readily` appreciated.

It is of very simple construction, and may be quickly and easily attached to the hame or detached therefrom, and by means of the rearwardly-extending portion 3 of the plate 3, which bears upon the collar, the collar is protected from any wear of the tug.

The tug-loop 6 is so combined with the block 5 on the plate 3 that said loop is free to turn or swivel in a vertical plane and there is no possibility of its binding, no matter how great the strain on the tug, and the boss 5 furnishes a large bearing-surface for the tug- ,loop 6, so that there will be little or no wear of the same.

. It will be understood that the details of construction of some of the parts of my hanne-tug attachment may be varied, if desired, and the shape of the plate 3 may be varied, if desired. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
