SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters '.Batent No. 545,194, dated August 2'?, 1895.
Application filed December 3,1894. Serial No. 530,632. (No model.)

Be it known that I, JOHN W. BUCHANAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Smithville, county of Wayne, State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in W'ire Fences, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, .reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in wire fences; and it consists of certain features of construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
The accompanying drawing is a side elevation illustrating my invention.
The object of the invention is to provide a support for the end post of a wire fence.
For the purposes of this application I have shown theinvention as applied to a wire-fence gate-post.

About the upper end of the post is secured the brace-wire F, which is passed inwardly and down over the end of the arm E, and down and outside of the post at a point near the ground-line, and continued to a point outside of the fence a distance and below the ground, Where the end of the wire is secured to the anchor G, and when used with gateu posts one anchor will serve for the two posts,
with the additional advantage of having the ends, and the anchor, G, located at the side y of the post opposite said arm, of the brace wire, F, secured to the post above the arm extending downwardly over the end of the arm and then inclined downwardly to the opposite side of the post and secured to the anchor, substantially as described.
