SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 544,331, dated August 13, 1895.

Be it known that I, ERNEST P. WARNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Globe Nettings for Arc Lamps, (Case No. 56,) of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to a globe-netting for are lamps, andits object is the provision of simple means for forming a netting and holding the globe in position.

The globe is located between an upper and a lower holder, said holders being provided around their edges with pins or knobs around which a wire or wires may be passed and laced back and forth to form a netting surrounding the globe and maintaining the same firmly in position between the holders.

Prior to my invention the protecting net of wires had been threaded through holes provided in a frame and then upset or otherwise secured in place. By the use of my invention the wire or netting is made readily removable since the loops upon the pins may be slipped off without removing the pins -or interfering in any way with the globe or other parts of the lamp.

My invention will be readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, which illustrates an arc lamp embodying-my invention.

- The globe at is located between the upper holder 11 and the lower holder 0, the holders being provided upon their edges with pinsor knobs d d, which preferably occupy inclined positions-that is, the pins upon the upper holder incline upward, while the pins upon the lower holder incline downward to more securely maintain the wires passed about the same in position ires 6 are passed alternately about ,pins of the upper and lower holders, thus forming a netting embracing the globe and maintaining the same securely in position. When it is desired to remove the globe, the wires may be readily unlaced to afford ready access thereto, and the lacing may be readily placed in position when it is desired to form the netting.

It is evident that the form of the pins or knobs may be changed, and that the style of lacing may be varied, without departing from the object of my invention, and I do not therefore desire to limit myself to details; but,

Having disclosed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination with an upper and a lower holder between which the globe is adapted to rest, of pins or catches provided around the edges of said holders, and a wire or wires looped back and forth over said pins to form a removable netting; substantially as de scribed.
