To all whom, it may concern:
. Be it known that I, GYULA ADoRIAN Pon LACSEK, of.Berlin, German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Issuing Cards, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an apparatus for issuing cards for calendar or advertising purposes,-or for giving the numbers of public vehicles, or the like.
The apparatus is shown on the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 being a vertical longitudinal section of the apparatus at rest. Fig. 2 shows the apparatus in operation. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the same. Fig. 4 is an outside view on a smaller scale. Fig. 5 shows a View of the slide. Fig. 6 shows a modification of the arrangement of thecards; Fig. 7 is a perspective View of the slotted bottom, with means for moving the slide forward and backward. Fig. 8 is ahorizontal section of the apparatus with the slide moved forward.
The apparatus consists of a rectangular box a with a lid b, which can be taken off or lifted up. A fixed bottom 0 is preferably formed so as to slope toward the front, and projects in front a little beyond the front wall d of the box. This front wall (1 is only firmly connected at d and d to the two sidewalls of the box, so that it forms a kind of spring tongue. The lower edge of the wall (1 is bent outward parallel to the projecting part c of the bottom c.- A frame f turning on pins 6 e is arranged on the two side walls a and a of the box, and this frame has at one side an arm g which, when the frame is pressed down,

A slot 0 is arranged on the bottom 0, running from the back to the front, in which slot a slide piece 10 moves by means of a projection Z. In the projection Z there is a slot on, see Fig. 5, through. which the point it of the lever h projects. A spring n,'att ached to the bottom 0, is passed with its free end through 1 a second hole n provided in the projection Z,
and moves the slide is always toward the rear wall of the box.
The mechanism placed on the under side f of the bottom 0 is inclosed in a box 0, which projects somewhat at the side where the arm 9 is situated, andis here provided with slots 0', o, for the passage of the arm g. The box a is filled with cards p, and the pile of cards is preferably weighted with a metal plate r. The cards bear thenumber of the vehicle in question, and may'also have notices in order to serve simultaneously for advertising purposes. In consequence of the inclined position of the bottom 0, the cards rest against the front wall, and leave a free space behind them, so that the curvedup rear edges of the slide is stands behind the bottom card. If the person using the vehicle presses the frame f downward, the slide is is moved forward by means of the arm 9 and the lever h, the spring at being by this means simultaneously compressed. The slide then carries, by means of its turned-up edge 8, the bottom card, and first pushes up the spring front wall d and causes the end of the card to project by the opening thus formed. On the framefbeing released, the slide ksprings back into its normal position, and its edge 8 places itself behind the next card, while the card which has been pushed forward remains between the projecting part c of the bottom and the turned out edge of the front wall 01, and thus may be easily-withdrawn by the passenger. When this has been done, the front wall springs back into its normal position. The bottom 0 of the apparatus may also be horizontal. In this case, the back wall of the box is preferably recessed out in the rear just above the bottom (as shown in Fig. 6) in such a way that the edge 8 of the slide comes exactly behind the bottom card.
This apparatus may be also employed as a calendar. In this case, it is filled with three hundred and sixty-six cards, which are numbered for the several days of the year. The card drawn out each day is inserted behind the framefin the manner shown in Figs. 1 and 4, which thus clamps the card between itself and the front wall by the recoil of the frame under the action of the spring n. It
is evident that such a calendar may also be made with only thirty-one cards, if it be not desired to give the name of the month.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of the said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is-- I 1. In apparatus for issuing cards, the combination of a card holding receptacle having a spring front wall adapted to yield for the passage of a card at the lower front edge, with a slide having a turned up edge to engage the lowermost card, means for moving the slide forward to push a card through the said opeuing and a spring to return the slide to engage with the next card, all substantially as set forth.
2. In apparatus for issuing cards, thecombination of a card holding receptable having a spring front wall adapted to yield for the passage of a card at the lower front edge, and a slot in the bottom thereof, with a slide having a turned up edge to engage the lowermost card and a projection passing through the said slot in the bottom of the receptacle a lever engaging the said projection, means for actuating the lever to move the slide, and a spring to return the slide, substantially as set forth.
3. In apparatus for issuing cards, the combination of a card holding receptacle having a spring frontwall adapted to yield for the passage of a card at the lower front edge, with a slide in the bottom of the receptacle, and having a turned up edge to engage the lowermost card, a handle and means connecting the handle to the slide whereby the slide is moved forward to push the card out of the said opening and a spring to return the slide, all substantially as set forth. 4. The combination, in an apparatus for issuing cards for calendar or advertising purposes, or for giving the numbers of public vehicles, or the like, of a card-holding receptacle or box a having a spring front wall d, weight 7', slotted bottom 0, and a small cover or box 0 below the bottom, and of a mechauism consisting of a slide 70, having a turned up edge .9 and slotted projections Z working ina slot 0 a lever h engaging with said slide and operated by an arm 9 of a frame f, and a spring n adapted to return the said slide to the rear of the box, substantially as herein set forth.
