Description

(N0 Model.)
P. BORSODI. ELEOTROTHERAPEUTIC APPARATUS.
No. 538,764. Patented May '7, 1895.
I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANZ BORSODI, OF MAGYAR-BANHEGYES, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
ELECTROTHERAPEUTIC APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 538,764, dated May 7, 1895.
Application filed October 22, 1888- Serial No. 288,760. (No model.) Patented in England September 1, 1886, No. 11,529 in Belgium September 15, 1886, No. 74,477; in Anstria=Hungary March 17 1887, No. 5,105 and No. 5,199, and in France August 13.1887,No. 178,536.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANZ BORSODI, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of Magyar-Banhegyes, Hungary, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, have invented a new and useful Electric Apparatus for Treatment of Diseased Human Muscles and Nerves,
This invention relates to an electrical ap-- pliance, designed to be worn on the person, for the purpose of beneficially affecting the parts which are in contact; and it is specially intended for strengthening and aiding the nerves.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of an electrical device embodying improvements. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a central vertically-transverse section, and Fig. 4 is a plan view.
The improved device consists of two concave plates 0. a together forming a central recess 0 within which is arrangeda voltaic pile,
essentially formed of thin copper and zinc rods, having an insulating covering of varnish. The ends of the metal bail g are bent inward to engage the upper loop portion f of the plates. The side ends of the bail g are connected by wires 72. with the voltaic pile.
The apparatus described is worn close to the body and in the locality of the part affected. The said apparatus is preferably held in position by means of a cordj which passes through the same and permits its attachment to the person by the wearer.
In use, the current generated by the voltaic pile, is transmitted to the bail g by wires h.
The concave form of the plates at a insures the device accommodating itself to the curvature of the body of the wearer.
Iclaim- In an electro-therapeutical apparatus, the combination with the plates at a secured together, to form a recess 0, a voltaic pile 1ocatedin said recess, and a bail g secured to said plates and electrically connected with the vol-- taic pile by wires 71., substantially as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANZ BORSODI. Witnesses:
AKOSMICHKJLOVITT,
WACHSLER SALENISKY.
