HENRY SALSBURY, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
LAM P-BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 535,559, dated March 12, 1895.
Application led November 6, 1893. Serial No. 490,080- (No model.) Patented in 4IEIngland December 3, 1892, No. 22,196, and in France rebrumy s, 1893, No. 227,624.
To @ZZ whom t may concern.-
Beit known that I, HENRY SALSBURY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, and a resident of 125 and 126 Long Acre, London, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Connected with Lamp-Burners, (patented in Great Britain, No. 22,196, dated December 3, 1892, and in France, No. 227,624, dated February 3, 1893,) of which the following is a specilication.
The invention is intended for use with oil reservoirs of a long cylindrical form for being dropped into the candle sockets of carriage and like lamps in substitution for ordinary candles.
The annexed drawings show my invention as applied to the burner portion of single round wick lamps such as are usedin substitution for candles in carriage lamps.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a side view, partly in section, and Fig. 2 is a perspective View.
According to the sectional elevation Fig. 1 the base A of the burner is provided on its interior portion with a screw thread B into which gears a star or lift wheel C attached to the wick tube D for raising or lowering the wick E (Fig. 2) when the rim F is turned. The Wick tube fits loosely in the base A and has its end burred over to prevent its withdrawal. Y
G is an extension of the base A and provided with a screw thread for connection to the lamp reservoir H.
I is a cap to the burner AA and also acts as a distancing piece between the rim F and base A. I
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination the base A threaded internally, the wick tube loosely mounted therein and having an upper bearing collar F and lower retaining flange d, and the star wheel carried by the tube, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereto signed my name, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 2d day of October, 1893.
HENRY SALSBURY.
