Description
(No Model) V P. A. HERRIGK.
OFFICE TIGKLER. No. 534,101. I Patented Feb. 12, 1895.
PATENT FFICE.
FRANK A. HERRIOK, OF JACKSON, MICHIGAN.
OFFICE-TICKLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 534,191, dated February 12,1895. Appli ati n filed November 7; 189A. Serial No, Z8i1f4=5. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK A. HERRICK, of Jackson, in the county of Jackson andState of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Office-Ticklers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to ofiice tioklers, and
consists in the improvements hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a perspective view of an office tick ler embodying my invention; Fig. 2, is a transverse'section of the same, the leaves being removed, and Fig. 3, is a plan view of one of the leaves. 1 The same reference letters indicate the f same parts in all the views.
A, is the front, B, the back, and C, D, the sides of a case, which is closed at the bottom and open at the top. I make the upper edges of the sides sloping, from the back toward the front, as indicated in the drawings.
E, E, are tubes secured rigidly to the inside of, and extending perpendicularly to, the back .13, toward the front A, of the case.
F, is a partition near the front, A, of the case.
f, f, are small rods secured to the partition, E, and extending perpendicularly thereto. The rods, f, f, are adapted to slide into the tubes E.
G, are leaves, which I make'of paste-board or heavy paper. The leaves, G, are threaded upon the tubes E, and each one is provided with an upwardly projecting portion, or tag, g, upon which is written a number indicating the day of the month. The leaves, G, are so placed with reference to each other, and the tags, 9, are so placed upon their respective leaves, that the numbers from 1 to 31 show in consecutive order, as shown in the figure.
There are three sets of these leaves.
H are leaves, which I make of the same material as, but of different color from, the leaves G. There are twelve of theleaves, H, each of whichis provided with a-tag, h, atits upper left hand corner, upon which is printed a designation of a month of the year.. There is one leaf to each month of the year.
I, I, are upwardly slanting slots cut into each 7 date.
of the leaves, H, at its ends and near its upper edge. The slot L, is of sucha size that the tubes, E, will just fit into them.
The lower corners of the leaves H, are cut away as indicated in Fig. 3. V
The method of adjusting and using the above described device is as follows: The leaves, G, are threaded upon the tubes, E, in theirv proper order. The partition, F, is then placed in position by inserting the rods, fif, into the tubes, E. A leaf, H, upon the tag of which is printed the designation of the current month, isthen placed in front of the first,
0, foremost, set of leaves, G. A leaf, H, bearing the designation of one of each of the two next succeedingmonths is placed in front of each of the other two sets of leaves, G, as indicated in Fig. 1. Memoranda, or papers, requiring immediate attention, are placed in the compartment formed betweenthe front,A, of the case, and the partition, F, and said partition is moved backward until such papers are held firmly in place, between it and the front, A, of the case. I in the positionto which it is adjusted by the friction of the rods, f, f, against the inside of the tubes, E, E. A, paper that is to be taken up at a subsequent date, is placed between two of the leaves, G, and just in front of that one of said leaves that bears the required When one month has passed, the leaf, H, bearing the designation of that month is removed by bending it slightly and raising it vertically from its place, and another leaf, H, is substituted by bending it and placing it vertically downward in the case with its slots, I, I, over the tubes, E.
It will be noticed that the tubes, E, serve to hold the leaves, G, and H, in proper position and prevent the leaves G, from being removed and misplaced, and at the same time said tubes serve as a guide to limit the motion of the partition, F. It will also be noticed that the size of the compartment, between the partition, F, and the front, A, of the case may be adjusted to the contents of said compartment.
Having fully described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The partition, F, is held 1 1. The combination of the case, A, tubes,
E, E, secured to theback, and extending toward the front of said case, and a partition,
F, provided with rods, f, f, adapted to slide 5 Within said tubes, substantially as shown and for the purpose described.
2. The combination of the ease, A, tubes,
E, E, secured to the back and extending to-
