Be it known that we, ISRAEL H. KAUEMA'NN and MosEs NIMEROEE, both of New York city, New York, have invented an Improved Clamp for Ironing-Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a clamp for securing a shirt to an ironing table or board in such a manner that the shirt is not apt to become drawn out of shape while being ironed.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure l i's a plan of our improved clamp, showing it in use. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section on line 2, 2, Fig. l; Fig. 3, a vertical section through the clamp on anenlarged scale; Fig. 4, a perspective view of the neck band e, and Fig. 5 a plan of the yokec.

The letter a, represents a plate, adapted to be secured to the edge of an ironing table A, or an ironing board by screws a. Through a strap or eye a2, ofplate a, passes the longer shank of a curved clamp bar b, the shorter shank of which is adapted to project over the face of the table'. The bar b, is vertically adjustable, and may be clamped at any desired elevation by a screw a3, passing through the strap a2. The shorter shank of the bar b, terminates in one or more pins b', that enter corresponding perforations c', of a yoke c. This yoke is so shaped, as to conform to the shoulders or yoke of a shirt, and to thus hold the same in proper alignment. To the yoke c, is attached by a spring d', a button or stud d, that is adapted to enter the front button holes B', of the shirt, and to thus secure the shirt at this point to the yoke.

e, is a flexible spring metal neck band, which is of suitable shape and is provided at its center with a perforation c', adapted to engage a laterally projecting stud b2, of bar b. 4o

The ends of the band overlap, and are respectively provided with a button e2, and a series of perforations e3, adapted to be engaged by the button, so that the band is adjustable to shirts of different sizes.

In use, the yoke c, is slipped into the shirt B, to be ironed, and is locked in place by the clamp bar b, which is lowered to engage the yoke, and is then secured in place by the screw a3. The yoke will hold the end of the shirt rmly upon the board, so that it cannot become wrinkled, or drawn out of shape while beingl ironed. The band e, is slipped into the neck opening of the shirt and upon being attached to the clamp bar, will properly vsupport the collar or neck band of the shirt. The object of the stud d, passed through button holes B, is to hold the two flaps of the bosom in their proper position, so that in this way parts of the shirt are properly secured at and below the yoke. With shirts having collars permanently fastened thereto thecollars are of course separately ironed,`before the shirts are clamped to the board.
