'L. WEISS. PARCEL CARRIER. No; 530,215. Patented Dec. 4, 1894.
w- 4 I I 5;.)
1 a 5 j Z INVENTOH PATENT FFICE.
LEOPOLD WEISS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PARCEL-CARRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 530,215,
dated December 4, 1894;
Application filed April 5. 1894- $erial No. 506,430. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEOPOLD WEISS, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing'in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Parcel-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to parcel carriers adapted for ready attachment to parcels, so that they may be conveniently carried by hand, and its object is to provide a simple and very cheap device provided with means by which it may be quickly applied to a parcel, and also with means whereby it may be carried without materially interfering with the free use of the hand, so that it is particularly adapted for ladies use, while they are going about from counter to counter or place to place, examining goods and handling money.
My invention consists of a doubled strap having its ends permanently attached by means of an eyelet, and a double or S-hook, one end of which is received in said eyelet, and the other end of which is adapted for engaging-with the tying-cord of the parcel or package to be carried.
In the accompanying drawings:-Figure 1 is a perspective view, showing the manner of using my improved parcel-carrier. ,Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the device, partly in section; and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now tothe drawings, the letter A indicates a strap of leather, cloth or other suitable material, the same being doubled to form a loop and its ends being permanently secured together by means of a metallic-eyelet a. One end I) of a double or S-shaped metallic hook B is inserted in the eyelet a, said end being bent sufficiently to prevent its easy removal from the loop, and the other end I) of the hook is adapted for engagement with the tying-cord of a parcel O, as shown in Fig. 1.
After having attached the device to the parcel the loop is slipped over the hand and is supported on the wrist, as shown, so as to leave the hand free. The end I) of the hook is turned up far enough so as to more securely retain the package.
The device being composed of but the two main parts it can be manufactured at such a slight cost that it may be given away to the customers for the purpose of carrying their purchases.
Having now described my invention, what I claim is I. A parcel-carrier, consisting'of aloop provided with an eye, said loop being adapted to be slipped over the hand, and an S-hook, one end of which is inserted in said eye and the other end of which is free for engaging the tying-cord of a package, substantially as set forth.
2. A parcel-carrier, consisting of a doubled strap having its ends permanently attached by an .eyelet, so as to form a loop, and an S- hook, one end-of which is inserted in said eyelet, and the other end of which is adapted to engage with the tying-cord of a package, substantially as set forth.
-In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention Ihave signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses. LEOPOLD WEISS.
