WINDOW-PLATFORM,

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 527,445, dated October 16, 1 894.

Application filed September 8,1892. Serial No. 445,353- (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE WASHINGTON OUsLEY, Jr., of San Jos, in the county of Santa Clara and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Platforms; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to improvements in window-platforms, designed for greater simplicity, durability and eficiency of construction, and certainty of operation.

My invention more particularly resides in the novel combination, construction and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described and set forth in the claim.

In the accompanying drawing, in which I have represented my platform in perspective, A is the main portion which is composed of the parallel pieces B to which are secured the parallel slats O. I

To the outer ends of the pieces B are hinged the inclined braces D, which are connected by means of the braces E. On the inner ends of B are secured hooks F, which are adapted to pass over the sill of a window.

At the lower extremity of the inclined braces D are eye bolts G, to which are secured the lower ends of the chains I-I, while their upper ends are secured to the platform A by means of hooks I. I The hooks I are formed in the ends of a rod or bar I which is movably mounted between and braces against the slats of platform A, and can be moved from one point to another if desired.

Extending upward from the outer part of the platform A and hinged to it by means of hinges J are the posts K, whose upper ends are connected to each other and to the inner ends of the pieces B by means of the rope L.

To keep the posts K in an upright position, I have shown a rod M, which is secured to the platform A by means of the eye bolt N and to the post K by means of the hook O and staple P.

My invention is adapted to fit any thick- .ness. of sill by adj usting the links of the chain H on the hooks I. I

It is readily seen from the drawing that my platform can be folded up when desired.

The construction and arrangement of the several parts of my device being thus made known, the operation and advantages of the same will, it is thought be readily understood.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

In a window platform, the combination of the main slatted platform, having inner hooks F on portions of the same, inclined braces D, hinged to the outer edge of the saidplatform on opposite sides of the same and connected by cross-braces, a rod 1 movably resting between the slats of the platform and having books I on its opposite ends, eyebolts secured to said braces D near their inner ends, chains H attached to said eyebolts and adapted to adj ustably engage the said hooks I, posts K hinged to the upper part of the platform near one edge, hooked rods M engaging the said platform and posts for holding the latter in upright position, and a rope connecting the upper ends of said posts to each other and to the opposite side of said platform, substantially as described.
