PRESCRIPTION-BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 526,772, dated October 2, 1894.
Application filed October 31, 1893. Serial No. 489.625. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHILION D. DICKERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marquette, in the county ofMarquette and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Prescription-Bottles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of'the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The special object of the invention is to construct a medicine bottle so that it may be used with a measuring tumblerfastened airtight thereon as hereinafter described.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a vertical section of the tumbler, and of the bottle except the breast and necks, and Fig. 2 a detail perspective view of the medicine tumbler.
In the drawings Arepresents the body and A the breast of the medicine bottle, B a cork which fills the ordinary neck b, and O the medicine tumbler which has on one side the usual graduation marks for a dessert, table or tea spoon measure. Now I make the bottle with a supplementary neck between the ordinary one and the breast A, and form on opposite sides two reverse spiral ribs a, a adapted to fit corresponding grooves c c on the inside of the tumbler. These spiral ribs or a are not carried down to the breast A but stop far enough above it, to leave an annular seat for the rubber ring or band D. As the grooves c c are turned over the spiral ribs a a, the edge of the tumbler is pressed against the rubber so as to form an airtight joint.
What I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-
The described medicine bottle consisting of the body A with the breast A, the supple mentary neck having reversely inclined ribs 0, a to fit corresponding grooves in a medicine tumbler, and an annular seat under the ribs fora rubber ring; whereby it may be used with a medicine tumbler grooved on the inside as set forth.
