Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE..
FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN POCKET TOILET-,CAsEa Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 52,669, dated February 20, 1866.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Pocket Toilet-Gase for Gentlemen; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part ot' this specification, in which- Figure l is a top view of the toilet-case closed for portability. -Fig. 2 is a similarview, representing the case opened for use.
Like letters of referencein dica te corresponding parts in both figures.
This invention consists in a novel arrangement of the small toilet articles-viz., comb, scissors, looking-glass or mirror, and tweez ers-generally required by gentlemen in a compact case well adapted when closed to be carried in the pocket.
In order to instruct others skilled in the art to make my invention and apply it to use, I will proceed to describe it, having' reference to the drawings.
A is a case, made of thin wood or pasteboard covered with leather or other suitable material in the shape shown in the drawings, with alid, B, attached to it at b by a hinge, of leather or other material.
Fastened securely to the bottom of the case A is a looking-glass, C.
Attached to the cover or lid B is a pad or cushion, D, provided in its center with asmall pouch or pocket, E, running 1engthwise for the reception of the comb F. Across the interior, near the middle of its length, there is secured an elastic band, which is formed into three loops, d, c, and f, for the reception of a pair of scissors, G, a pair of tweezers, H, and a knife, J, by passing it through openings in the lining of the lid and covering ofthe pocket E, and there securing it, the loop d for the scissors being on the exterior of the pocket E, and the loops e and f for the tweezersand knife being on each side of it.
The whole case. is kept closed by means of an elastic band, I, which is attached by its two ends to the lid B, and can be stretched sufficiently to pass over the ends of and under the bottom of the case A and hold the lid secure in the manner of an ordinary pocketbook.
rlhe entire case constructed and having its parts arranged as above described can be made so small as to occupy no more space than a small porte-monnaie.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as a new article of manufacture- A pocket toilet-case constructed and having a mirror, a pocket for a comb, and elastic loops for the reception of scissors, tweezers, and knife arranged with it, substantially as herein described.
FRANCIS F. BRAILLARD.
