To operate the machine, place the upperleather of the boot to be lasted between the jaws D D and bring down the eccentric E to force the jaws D D to hold tight to the upperleather, and place the round end B of lever A A on the opposite side of the boot and press upon the handle A A at H, which Will draw the upper-leather over the insolesrnoothly to its place. A
Fig. 2 is a top view of the shank-laster.
We also intend to have a steel spring placed between the jaws D D, to throw them open when the pressure is removed.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
fllhe handle or lever A A, strap C, jaws D D, and eccentric E, in combination, arranged and operated in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
