Description

E. PRUOKNER. CHRISTMAS TREE HOLDER.
(No Model.)
J m m 3% F XM- NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDMUND PRUCKNER, OF MIDDLETOWN, NEIV YORK.
CHRISTMAS-TREE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 523,376, dated July 24., 1894. Application filed December 27, 1893. Serial No. 494,888. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
l 3e it known that I, EDMUND PRUCKNER, a citizen of the United States of America, M siding at Middletown, in the county of Orange and State of New York, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Clamp- Stands, of which the following is a specificat1on, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to an improvement in clamp stands, and has for its object the support of articles which are inserted within the gripping jaws, and consists of an arrangement of platesand jaws, supported on suitable legs.
With these ends in view my invention conslsts in certain features of construction and combination of parts more fully pointed out in the claims,
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a vertical section of a tripod stand. Fig. 2 is the bottom, three-armed clasp or fulcrum plate. Fig. 3 is the armed crown or power plate. Fig. 4 is a section of a leg showing the bearing pins, with which each is provided.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout all figures.
A represents metallic, triangularshaped legs, having curved gripping jaws act, at upper extremity thereof and provided with pins d d, forming bearings shown in Figs. 1 and 4.
O is the bottom three-armed clasp or fulcrum plate, each arm 6, thereof forming a slotted hook b.
The crown or power plate D, is preferably composed of three arms each arm 0, of which is provided with tongues c, which incline slightly downward. The slotted hook shaped arms I), of the fulcrum plate 0, and the arms 0, provided with the tongues c, embrace either side of theclamping legs A, and the hooks b,
The grip portion of the legs a and a, is given a curved form in order that it may be adjusted to receive a large or small article as may be desired.
The adj ustability of my device enables me to use the same in connection with a large variety of articles, which it is adapted to support, and at the same time hold the same more firmly by reason of said adj ustability of the parts which clamp the article. The value of this will be readily appreciated by those fa- I miliar with such devices.
It is clearly seen that when an articleF, is placed between the gripping jawsA a, and B a, and the nut on the binding bolt is turned up with with a wrench the jaws are drawn together until the object F, is bound firmly between them and thus supported in an upright position.
It is obvious that slight changes of construction may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a clamp stand, the combination with three or more triangular-shaped legs, a pair of oppositely disposed plates adapted to re ceive a binding bolt, arms upon said plates engaging lugs or pins formed upon said legs, a binding bolt drawing said plates together causing the legs to clamp the object inserted, and hold same in an upright position, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. In a clamp stand the combination with three or more triangular-shaped legs, of a three or more armed fulcrum-plate each arm thereof being a slotted hook adapted to receive lugs or pins formed upon said legs, a
binding bolt, a crown plate, provided with inclined slotted arms co-acting with said fulcrum-plate, and embracing lugs or pinsformed upon the legs said lugs placed between the fulcrum plate and the clamping surface thereby causing the legs to clamp and hold the object inserted in an upright position substantially asdescribed.
3. In a clamp stand the combination with three or more triangular-shaped legs, of a three or more armed fulcrum-plate, each arm thereof being a slotted hook, a crown plate provided with slotted arms, a binding bolt in an upright position substantially as dewhereby said fulcrum-plate and crown plate scribed. 10 are drawn together, gripping jaws upon the In testimony whereof I afiix mysignature in upper end of said clamping legs and lugs enpresence of two witnesses.
5 gaged by said crown and fulcrum plates said EDMUND PRUCKNER.
lugs placed between the fnlcru m-plate and the Witnesses: clamping surface thereby causing said jaws T. N. LITTLE,
to grip the object inserted and hold the same GEO. II. LYON.
