BED-BRACE;

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 5I6,955, dated March 20, 1894 Application filedAugust 23,1893. Serial No. 483,830- (No model.)

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. WATSON, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Lexington, in the county of Davidson and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful'Improvements in Bed- Braces; and I do declare the following to be the provision of a device of this character which will be of simple, durable and inexpensive construction, easy of application and thoroughly efficient inoperation'.

In order that the operation of my device will be readily understood and its ad vantages appreciated I have illustrated in the accomis swiveled in the winged Mud, and from the wings F, the wires pass overthe grooved guide pulleys K, mounted in the brackets or bearings L, which are secured by hooks- Mto the over the other set of grooved guide pulleys K, then through openings in the winged nut J and then over or through the eyes or sta ples O, the ends of the wire being fastened to the wings of the nut G. The adjusting bolt H is provided with a squared head H adapted to receive a keyorwrench for; turning the bolt which action as is evident draws the wires tight or loosens them as found desirable.

' It will be seen that I provide adevice which can be easily and quickly applied to any bed at a small price and that the peculiar arrangement of the adjusting. devices and the guide pulleys and the eyes enable the wire to brace or. fasten'the parts of the bed securely and enable the bed to withstand all strain.

I claim- The combination of the bed frame, the twoeyes secured to the end railsoneat each cor- 'ner thereof, the eyessecured to the side rails near-the center thereof, the -shaped brackets having hooks at their closed'ends engaging theeyes of the side rails, the grooved guide pulleys mounted .in the brackets, the

stationary winged nut, the ajusting bolt hav-- eyes D, and from the grooved pulleys the wire I 7 passes through the eyes 0, then through or 45 ing the extended portion provided with a squared end and swiveledin saidnut, the ad justable winged *nut on the bolt, said nuts having openings in, the wings thereof to receive the wires and the brace wire having its ends connected to the "wings ot'rthe adjustable nut, and passing over the pulleys and through the, eyes and connected to the stationary winged nut, all as shownand described.
