SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 515,273, dated February 20, 1894;.

Be it known that 1, JOHN J. BECKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Wayne, inthe county of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useily and conveniently operated, and one which may be produced at a very low cost.

The invention consists of a truck having two wheels with a concaved bed mounted thereon, a single leg secured to the bed, and a removable handle serving also as a second leg when the barrel is on tap.

The invention also includes the details of construction hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved truck. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same. Fig. 3 represents the truck with the barrel ready to be loaded thereon. 1 Fig. 4 represents the truck with the barrel thereon ready to be moved to any desired place, and Fig. 5 represents the barrel and truck at rest and in place for use while on tap.

In the figures A, A, are the main wheels of the truck, and upon the wheels are mounted the side pieces or bars B, which are connected by cross pieces 0, G. The bed or body portion is shown at D, upon which the barrel is designed to rest, and this bed has upon its upper face suitable cross ridges 0r projections 61, which are concaved on their upper face to provide a concaved surface to conform to the shape of the barrel, to provide a firm seat therefor. A projecting flange or lip is secured to the end of the bed portion, which has a sharpened edge to permit it to be easily inserted under the edge of the barrel in placing the barrel on the bed, as indicated in Fig. 3.

For the purpose of tipping up the bed with the barrel thereon a handle or lever E, is provided, the end of which is inserted in a recess e, in the under side of the bed, while a hook e is provided near the other end which is adapted to engage with the rim of the barrel as shown. in Figs. 3 and 4. By grasping the outer end of the handle E, the bed with the barrel thereon may be tipped into the position shown in Fig. 4 and the barrel wheeled to any point desired. A series of openings f, are formed in the handle, by means of which thehook may be adj usted longitudinally thereon to adapt it to diiferent lengths of barrels.

In order to support the bed and barrel when in a horizontal position a leg G is secured to one end of the'bed, and after the barrel is tipped to a horizontal position and resting upon this leg the detachable handle may be removed by simply unhooking the hook from the edge of the barrel and slipping the end of the handle out of its retaining recess. The handle is then designed to be used as an additional leg as shown in Fig. 5 to support the free corner of the bed, the hook engaging with the under side of the bed and supporting the same, as shown in Fig. 5.

In order to enable the truck to be easily moved against the barrel when placing the projecting lip or flange beneath the same I have provided the small wheels or casters h, on the corners of the side pieces which serve as anti friction rollers and permit the truck to be easily moved against the barrel when tipped to a vertical or endwise position as in Fig. 8.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. Abarrel truck, consisting of the side bars, the frame thereon, the concaved bed on the frame, the stationary leg at one end and at or near the center of the frame, the guide or recess on the under side of the frame, the fiat bar having one end adapted to fit in the guide or recess and having a series of aligned openings, a hook having one end adjustably and detachably connected to the fiat bar; and adapted to engage the rim of the barrel when the bar serves as a handle and to engage the frame when the bar serves as a leg.
