IMPROVEMENT IN CARPENTERS BENCHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 147,848, dated February 24, 1874; application ifcd September 10, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIAS H, LANCASTER, of the town of Montpelier, county of Blackford, State of Indiana, have invented an 11nprovelnent in Carpenters Benches, of which the following :is a specification:
The nature and object of the invention will be fully understood from the following general description and the accompanying drawings.
Figure l of the accompanying drawings is a side view of the device; Fig. 2, a bottom view of the saine; Fig. 3, a top view ot' the saine.
The device is to be made as follows: The bench having been constructed as shown in the drawing, with its drawers a and b, tills s,
t, u, and fw, its legs g, m, and n, and its vises k k, it is further supplied with the wheels h and f, which are arranged as follows Behind the vise 7- are two legs on the side next to the up the legs of the bench, but that when out of that recess and drawn up by the cord Z, the legs of the bench will rest firmly on the ground. The wheel f runs in the caster c, which, while held by the bail c, in the position shown in the drawing, will also hold the legs g off of the ground; but when the bail c is released and d, which is hinged at e, is turned downward, then f will be lifted up, and g and d rest on the ground. If it be desired to have two benches, this device maybe taken into two pieces by pulling out the bolts a' and y, and parting it at the joint o. This device is to be used otherwise than as described as an ordinary carpenters bench, and will be found exceedingly handy and easy of transportation.
