Be it known that l, CHARLESWC. YOUNG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ellsworth, in the county of Hancock and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful l' -iprovements in Axle-Lubricators; Y and I do liy Areby declare the following to `be a full,

lI provide an oil cup or reservoir A of coning at its lower extremity in a beveled point i b furnished with a minute vent c about the size of a pin head. The interior of the diminishing chamber B is shaped to correspond with the exterior bevel and to receive and tit the point d of the plunger D, while the enterior of the chamber B and the lower portiony of A are screw threaded and the upper p'ortion of- A is nut faced. The plunger D is vformed with a point tl' shaped to tit the diminished chamber B and with a screw threaded shank afwerking through the cap or cover a of the cup A. The plunger is of such length' as to permit its point to rest in the bottom ot the chamber B when fully screwed down, and the point. then acts as a stopper and prevent` the further flow of the oil. The point may, if desired, be faced with rubber. In operation, the hub being bored for the purpose, the lubricator is screwed into position so that the vent c may discharge upon the axle F. The screw plunger D is raised to the position shown in Fig. 2. and the o il introduced through the slot E to,si1cli quantity as may be desired. The plunger D is then screwed down until the slot E is entirely within the reservoir and below its cover whereby the whole top is now tightly closed. The plunger may now be screwed down to the bottom of the lower chamber B the oil through the vente upon `the axle, and when ,more oil is required, the plunger is raised from the chamber B which again illsninstantly, when, the plunger being screwed down, the oil is again forced out and the axle lubricated. y
The filling and emptying of the reservoir being accomplished in the manner above indicated, it is'apparent that the wheel need never be removed for .the-purpose of lubrication. v
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat- A lubricator consisting of the combination fof an oil-'cup haying a'chamber coinrnunicat` ing with and locatedabove a smaller chambei', terminating at its lower extremity in a discharge passage; and a plunger .havinga screw-threaded shank operating in the cover of said large chamber -and a point'shaped and fitted to'be introduced into andtll said small chamber and to vbe raised out therefrom, the shank of said plunger beinggouged or slotted longitudinally for a portion of .its length toward its lower end.
