SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 513,071, dated January 23, 1894.
thereon, which form apart of this specification.
The special object of the invention is to combine a stencil and marking brush so that either may be conveniently used without the other while both are supported on the same handle and fed with liquid from the same reservoir.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a sectional elevation; Fig. 2 a detail perspective view of the stencil brush cap, and Fig. 3 detail views of the pipe and small brush holder.
In the drawings, A represents my combined stencil and marking brush. The handle 1 is hollow and contains the interior reservoir for the liquid which is to be used on the brushes in stenciling and marking. It screws into the cap 2 which carries the brush 3 at its lower end. Both the handle 1 and cap 2 are provided with a cylindrical vertical hole, the two holes registering with eacli other so as to receive the tube 4 which extends through the cap 2 and among the hair which constitutes the stencil brush. This tube has openings 10 SerialNo-48L68'7- (Nomodel-l 1 in the liquid reservoir 1 and among the hair 3 so that the liquid may be distributed on the brush.
5 represents the marker which has a tubu lar holder 6 with'projections 9 to fit the openings l0 and serve as a valve therefor. By taking hold of the top 8, and screwing it down in the tube 4, the valves 9 leave the openings so that the liquid is brought into communi On the other cation with both of the brushes. hand, when screwed upward,'the valves. close the openings and no liquid can reach the brushes. When the holder-rod 6 is screwed down, the valves 9 uncover the openings 10 so that the liquid enters tube I at the upper opening 10 and at the lower opening 10 passes to the brush 3 while a portion flows down the rod 6 to the brush 5. After entering the tube 4 at the upper opening 10, the liquid flows downbetween the tube and the rod 6.
Having thus describedall that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is- 1 In a combined stencil and marking brush, the combination of the reservoir 1, the brush holder 2, the central tube 4 with valve-openings 10, and the tube 6 with valves 9, the-tube 6 screwing into the tube 4 to seat or unseat the valves as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses. I I
LOUIS W. BALDWIN.
