Description

UNIT D STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS F. MINGEN, OF OOLLINGDALE, PENNSYLVANIA.
PUZZLE OR SOLITAIRE GAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 512,658, dated January 9, 1894.
Application filed April 10, 1893. Serial No 469,853. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS F. MINGEN, a resident'of Oollingdale, county of Delaware, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Puzzle or Solitaire Game of which the following is a specification.
It consists of an oblong block of wood or surface of card, marked off in two lines, the first line composedpf five (5) holes or spaces, and the second line of one (1) hole or space, and four (4) pegs or movable figures,
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, which show both parts of this puzzle or game.
Figure 1 shows the block, or card, with the arrangement of the holes or spaces; and Fig. 2 shows the four (4) movable pegs orfigures.
The objects of this invention are: first, to place the pegs numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the holes in the block with corresponding numbers, then reverse the pegs numbered 3 and 4; second, to get all the pegs in their properplaces, (holes in the block with corresponding numbers) by jumping only one peg at a time, moving only from hole numbered 3 to hole numbered 6, or from hole numbered 6 to hole numbered 3 without jumping. Thus move peg 4from 3 to 6-,peg 1 from 1 to 3 and then to 5-, peg 3 from 4to 1-, peg 4 from 6 to 3, peg 2 from 2 to 4-, peg 4 from 3 to 6-, peg 1 from 5 to 2-, peg 3 from 1 to 3 and then to 5-,peg,4 from 6 to3and then to 1, peg 3 from 5 to 3- and then to 6-, peg 1 from 2 to 5-, peg 3 from 6 to 3, peg 2 from 4 to 2-, peg 3 from 3 to 6-, peg 4 from 1 to 4-, peg 1 from 5 to 3 and then to 1-, peg 3 from 6 to 3.
I am aware that prior to my invention Letters Patent have been granted to puzzles composed of blocks and cards and having movable figures and pegs, but
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a game apparatus, a game board of suitable material having therein five holes in substantially a straight line, and numbered 1 to 5'consecu'tively,a sixth numbered hole out of alignment with the other five, and four pegs numbered respectively, 1, 2, 3, and 4, adapted to be inserted in the holes in the board, as and for the purposes set forth.
