Description

No.- 771,943. PATENTED OCT 11, 1904. U. W. SPIGER.
GAME OR PUZZLE. APPLICATION FILED JULY 28, 1904.
N0 MODEL.
Htrornev Patented October 11, 1904.
PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES W. SPIOER, OF WASHINGTON,
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
GAME OF PUZZLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 771,943, dated October 11, 1904.
Application filed July 28, 1904. Serial No- 218,542.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARL S W. SPIOER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 7 in Games or Puzzles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of games or puzzles in which a plurality of movable parts are inclosed in a containing field and adapted to be positioned in a desired goal by proper manipulation, of said containing field.
The object of my invention is to provide an inexpensive and durable toy in which the positioning of the movable pieces in the desired goal is possible, but sufliciently difficult to excite and maintain a lively interest in the toy.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this application, and in which similar reference numerals indicate corresponding parts in both views, Figure l is a perspective view illustrating one embodiment of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. l. I I
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a plane base surmounted by a cylindrical wall 2, carrying a transparent cover-piece 3; but obviously said base and wall "could be given any other forms, if desired.
4 indicates a goal arranged Within the cylindrical wall 2 and elevated above the base 1. As shown in the drawings, this goal is formed by a wire supported on the cylindrical wall; but it could be formed in any other desired Way.
(No model.)
otherwise distinguished, if desired.
The base 1 could be differently colored or could bear different characters or designs at opposite sides of the goal 4 to add to the interest in the game. A preferable construction during a presidential year would be to place likenesses of the two presidential candidates on the base 1 at opposite sides of the goal 4.
In the use of my invention the operator holds the toy in his hand and manipulates the same to cause the movable angular pieces 5 to straddle and'be supported on the goal 4, his endeavor being to position all of the angular pieces-on said goal.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A game or puzzle comprising a base, wall, and transparent cover-piece, a goal within said wall and elevated above said base, and a plurality of movable angular pieces constructed to straddle said goal and be supported thereon, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES W. SPIOER.
