PATENT OFFICE.
ANDRES BERACIERTO, or MATANZAS, CUBA.
PANTALOONS-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent No. 511,578, dated December 26,1893.
Application filed August 1'7, 1893. $erial No. 483,350. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDRES BERACIERTO, a subject of the King of Spain, and a resident of Matanzas, in the Island of Cuba, have invented a new and useful Improved Fantaloons-Hanger, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forminga part of this specification, in which similar letters ,of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is afront elevation of my improved pantaloons hanger. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan of the same on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view of one of the bearings for the ends of the hanger bars; and Fig. 4 is an enlarged longitudinal section of the end of a hanger bar with its trunnion secured thereto.
The object of the invention is to provide a pantaloons hanger capable of carrying a great number of pantaloons.
The invention consists of a central rod or bar, brackets projecting therefrom, and bars or rollers j ournaled in the brackets and so arranged that they form a polygon when viewed from above, as will be more fully set forth in.
B or its equivalent, which serves for suspending the hanger.
To opposite sides of the bar A are secured two series of brackets 0 having radiating arms C, the said arms being preferably parallel to the bisectrix of the angles at the corners of the central bar A. Each of the brackets of one series is located in horizontal alignment with one of the other series. The brackets are fastened to the bar A by means of screws or rivets C or their equivalents. As shown at O in Figs. 1 and 3, the brackets C may be provided with apertures of an ornamental character which at the same time serve to reduce the Weight of the hanger.
of each of the other three sets.
tances from each other.
The outer ends of the radial arms 0', which are made circular, are provided with a longitudinal recess or slot 0 the inner portion whereof C is about twice as wide as the outer portion, so that the slot has the shape of a bayonet slot. The inner ends 0 of the slots 0 are adapted to form bearings for the pins or trunnions D of the bars or rollers D. These bars are preferably made of wood, as the rust of iron bars, if such were used, would injure the pantaloons carried by the said bars. The pins or trunnions D are secured to small circular plates D which are adapted to be pressed in contact with the ends of the bars D. The latter are provided at their ends with longitudinal central recesses to receive the inner ends of the pins D, or the said inner ends may be pointed to allow of driving them into the wood. Additional pins or points D are preferably provided on the inner surfaces of the disks D to prevent the bars D from loosely turning on the pins or trunnions D'. It will beunderstood that the trunnions D are so placed in the slotsC, C that they can be readily removed therefrom. The bars D are therefore removable and can be easily replaced with new ones,if necessary.
It will be seen in Fig. 2, that the center lines of the bars D form a rectangle, and this is the preferred form of the inventionfthough it is not necessary that the adjacent series of bars D should be at right angles to each other. It will be understood that there are four series or sets of bars D, and that the bars of one set are preferably in vertical alignment, as shown, while each bar of one set is in substantially horizontal alignment with one bar The brackets C-are preferably located at regular dis- Ea'ch of the bars D is adapted to carry a pair of pantaloons, which are hung on the bars withtheir middle portions so that the depending parts counterbalance oueanother. No special device is therefore required for holding the pantaloons on the bars. The length of the latter of course corresponds to the width of the pantaloons.
It will be understood that the hereinbefore described hanger is the preferred form of my invention, but various changes may be made in its construction withoutdeparting from the nature of my invention. For instance, the
central bar A maybe cast integral with the brackets ,0. Instead of having four series or sets of bars D arranged around the central bar at right angles to each other to form a square figure, three or five, or any other number of sets of bars D may be employed, it being understood that these sets of bars will be so arranged around the central bar as to form a polygonal figure having as many sides as there are sets of bars.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A hanger for pantaloons, comprising a central bar or rod, brackets projecting radially therefrom, and sets of bars or rollers j on rnaled in the said brackets, and so arranged in relation to each other as to form a polygonal figure 'around the central rod, substantially as described.
2. A hanger for pantaloons, comprising a central bar or red, two seriesof brackets secured on opposite sides thereof and having arms projecting diagonally therefrom, and four sets of superposed bars or rollers jour naled in the said brackets, and so located in relation to each other as to form a rectangular figure around the said central rod, substantially as described. t
3. A hanger for pantaloons, comprising a central bar or rod, two series of brackets secured on opposite sides thereof and having arms projecting radially therefrom, the said arms being provided with bayonet slots at their outer ends, and four sets of superposed bars or rollers, each journaled in the slots of the said brackets, the said sets of rollers being so arranged as to form a rectangular figure around the said central rod, substantially as described.
4. A hanger for pantaloons, comprising a central bar or rod, superposed spaced brackets rigidly connected therewith and ektend ing radially therefrom, and sets of bars or rollers journaledin the said brackets insuch manner that each bar will essentially form an isosceles triangle with the brackets in which it is journaled, substantially as shown and described. t
