STEAK-CRUSHER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 510,513, dated December 12, 1893. Application tiled August 20, 1892. SerialNo. 443,554. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern,.- l
Be it known that I, PASCAL L. MARS, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Peoria, in the county of Peoria and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steak-Crushers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in steak lCrushers byv means of which a steak Crusher is provided being simple in construction, durable and cheap in first cost.
More particularly my invention relates to a device for crushing steak formed with two rollers suitably mounted in a frame work and suitably rotated and of certain other minor features, the whole purposed for the above named object.
My invention consists essentially of two elongated rollers set parallel and adjacent and within a frame structure and provided with suitable teeth or raised portions in form of partial pyramids set within or upon the surfaces of the respective rollers and further consists of a rotating means and of an adjusting means as will be more particularly described hereinafter.
That my invention may be more fully understood reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which` Figure l shows a side elevation of my improved device showing the relative position of the fixed and adjustable parts and further showing in dotted or solid lines the said parts in different positions. Fig. 2 is a plan View Aof the device with a portion of the cover or lid thereof broken away. l
In the drawings A has reference to the main frame structure which is rectangular in form and is provided with the legs A5.
C refers to a frame portion set upon the main frame portion A and is adjustable thereon one side of the said frame C being here shown the other side being the same in form and relative adjustment in connection with the main frame.
C is a pivoted frame piece, pivoted'at C and fitted into the frame piece C, there being a corresponding frame piece pivoted in like manner on the opposite side of the machine and in the same relative position.
D--D are elongated rollers, the journals thereof carried in the main frame work and supplemental frame work as shown; the journal D2 of the roller D being mounted in the main frame work A and the roller D or the journal thereof mounted in supplemental frame work C and having bearing over the said journal the pivoted frame piece C all as shown and with the said rollers provided with the teeth or partial pyramid formed raised portions w-fw.
B is a hinged lid formed as shown to bear over the top of the rollers and to t upon the main frame work and supplemental frame Work and is formed with an opening in its top portion, formed with the curved pieces t-t and the said lid or cover is provided with the hook p to secure the said lid in lirm closed position by its hooked portion bearing over a suitable pin or lug upon the main frame work, there being provided a corresponding hook and lug upon the opposite side of the machine in the same relative position.
G is a threaded bolt secured to the adjustable supplemental frame work C and is carried through the ears O-O of the frame eX- tension A2, there being provided the thumb nut F bearing between the said ears and threaded to correspond with the threads on the bolt and designed to be turned for the purpose of adjusting the said bolt which by its connection with the supplemental frame work C adjusts the same simultaneously for useful purposes hereinafter more particularly described.
The frame which carries the adjustable roller D, is made in two parts C C and hinged together, the purpose being to provide for the ready removal of roller D, for the purpose of cleaning, and further that as the frame work is purposed to slide with the lower section and .the lower edge thereof in contact with the upper edge of the frame work A, and the upper section C and the upper edge thereof in contact with the edge of the lid or cover B.
In operation for the purpose designed the rollers being first placed in proper adjustment or relatively in the positions shown in the IOO drawings with the lid or cover suitably secured over the top of the rollersit'is designed that steak be passed through the opening in the top portion and between the said rollers for the purpose of crushing the same. This object may be readily accomplished through the proper adjustment and operation of the device. It will be noticed by an examination of Fig. 2 that the raised portions or teeth upon thev respective rollers are set in circumferential lines and the raised portions or teeth of one roller alternating with the raised portions on the other roller in such manner that the raised portions on one roller are carried between rows of teeth on the opposite roller and steak being passed between the said rollers by the action of the roller D being operated, the contact of the steak with the roller D operating to turn the said roller D', the steak is thus carried through and etfectually crushed by the action of the teeth upon the said rollers. It will be seen from the drawings that the roller D being stationary the roller D is adjustable with reference thereto, the said roller D being carried in the adjustable frame C, the said adjustable frame being moved backward or forward through the action of the threaded bolt G connected therewith operated by means of the thumb nut F whereby it will readily be seen that the roller D is adjusted with the frame C to accommodate the passage through of different thicknesses of beef-steak.
The various elements of the device may be modified in form and may be differently arranged to suit the application in which it may be nsed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination, the frame A provided with the leg supports A5, the lid B hinged to the frame work A and provided with slotted top, the roller D journaled upon the frame work A, and having regular, parallel, lineal, and circumferentially arranged teeth, the adjustable roller D, j ournaled in the movable frame work, and having regular, parallel, lineal and circumferentially arranged teeth, and provided With the crank arm H for turning the same, so that when turned when steak is passed betweenthe rollers D D?, and in contact with each the roller D will be caused to be turned, the adjustable framework in which the roller D is journaled formed of the two sections C C. hinged together, and in sliding Contact with the frame A, and lid B, which are suitably cut to provide space for such movement back and forth, the adjustable mechanism consisting of the screw G attached to the sliding frame work formed of parts C C and thumb nut F, supported in extension A4, having perforated ears Q, O', substantially as described and shown.
