To all whom it may con/cern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE C. GERATY, a citizen of the United` States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Combined Sink'and Dish- Algrain, of which the following is a specifica;-

ion.

My invention relates to improvements in the construction of combined sinks and dishdrains and more especially to sucn devices formed of cast iron; my object being to pro- ,Vide the device with a cushioned dish-drain which while affording facilities for perfect draining will operate as a safeguard against the chipping or breaking of the dishes.

A is a sink having cast integral therewith aslanting dish-drain B, shelving into the sink, the casting being strengthened with one or more ribs t. In the base of the sink is the usual outlet s formed with a recess soapped by a sieve s2. In the recess sf around the outlet opening is a shallow squared socket s3 for a squared flange r at the end of the drainage pipe couplingfr. The coupling is held in place y C is a cushioned platform of woven wire, secured to a frame consisting of a peripheral Wire rod rt twisted at intervals to form legs n', as shown in Fig. 5,at the pointsindicated. The rod is bent to produce blunted corners n2. Extending diagonally across the frame are brace rods mA twisted at intervals to produce legs m and secured to the corners n2. Beyond the-corners the brace rods are bent into hooks m2 which when the platform is in place register with and enter the perforated supports q p.' The legs n fm conform to the slant of the dish drain, and afford a firm sup-v port for the frame, holding the platform C in the horizontal plane out of contact at all parts with the dish drain surface. Dishes may be placed upon the platform C without danger of being chipped or broken by the impact; and the platform will permit the dishes to drain freely of Water, which will pass through the wovenwire and runY down the inclined drain-board to the sink.

The perforated supports hold the draining platform firmly in position, and the platform may be readily removed for cleaning and replaced.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. In combination a sink A, dish-drain B shelving into the sink, perforated supports at corners of the dish-drain and a cushioned wire draining platform provided with corner hooks to enter the perforations in the supports, substantially as described.

2. In combination a sink A, dish-drain B shelving into the sink, and a cushioned platform C having a frame, consisting of peripheral brace rods provided with legs, resting upon the dish-drain and securing means at the dish-drain to engage the said platform and hold it in place, substantially as described.
