To all whom it may concern:

Be t known that I, THEODORE O. STEIMER, of Fmdlay, in the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, have invented a new and usefullmprovement in Snaps for Holding Glassware, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a central'vert-ical section oi my improved snap; and Fig. 2 is a plan view of V the same.

My invention relates to the snaps employed 1n holding partially-finished glass artlcles whlle reheating, glazing or polishing the same, and it consists in an improved construction and arrangement of parts whereby the rod which opens the jaws serves also,

when released, to close and lock the jaws upon the article to be retained.

The operation of the device is obvious. The disk normally holds the jaw locked in as shown in Fig. 1, as it .the lips 11.

The advantages of the device are numerous. The disk;ser'ves both to lock the jaws in'closed position and to open the same. The article is heldevenly and with equal pressure on all sidesfand thus the liability to uneven revolving of the article removed. The seating of the jaws upon the annular shoulder takes up any'wear and centers the jaws, while the entire device is simple and cheaply made.

As many jaws may be used as desired, and man y other variationswill suggest themselves to those skilled {inthe art without departure from my invention, since What I claim is 1. A snap having hinged jaws and a disk arranged to positively open and close said jaws; substantially as described.

2. A snap having hinged jaws provided with beveled lips, and a disk arranged to ride upon the lips and close the jaws; substantially as described.

3. A snap having hinged jaws provided with recessed portions arranged to seat upon an annular shoulder on the base-plate of the snap; substantially as described.

'4. A snap having a tubular handle, jaws pivoted at its upper end and havinginwardly projecting bases, anda rod passing through the handle and arranged to abut against the bases and swing the jaws open; substantially as described.

5. A snap having a tubular handle, jaws pivoted at its upper end and having inwardly I projecting bases and depending beveled lips,
