IDENTIFICATION REGEPTAGLE BADGE. No. 507,036..
Patented Oct, 17, 1893.
Wilgcsses UNITED STATES PATENT DYER W. PERRY, OF KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
IDENTIFICATION RECEPTACLE-BADG E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 507,036, dated October 17, 1893.
Application filed June 28,1893. Serial Nil-479.034. (No model.)
. To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DYER W. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Keene, in the county of Cheshire and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useful Identification Receptacle-Badge, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an identification receptacle badge adapted to be worn by adults and children, and it contemplates the provision of a light and inexpensive device which is fiat in shape so as to be conveniently worn under the clothing as over the heart, and which is water-tight to protect its contents.
The badge may be attached to any convenient article, as the suspender over the region of the heart, in order that it may be discovered at once by persons inquiring as to the condition of the wearer in case of acci dent.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section of the same. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on the line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. a is a detail view of the retaining band or holder.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawlngs. I
l designatesa base-plate, which is provided at its upper and lower ends with transversely-disposed slots 2,-adapted to receive a strap or band, as shown at 3 in the drawings, or to serve as a means for the attachment of the securing stitches employed in fastening the device to a garment. Arranged upon this base-plate is a receptacle or container 4, provided upon its front face with a suitable inscription to indicate the utility of the device, and having open sides fitted with rubber or similar waterproof stoppers 5. Such stoppers are preferably wedge-shaped in cross-section to fit snugly into the open sides of the receptacle, and they are firmly locked in place by means of a band or holder 6, of wire or similar material, which extends completely around the four sides of the receptacle parallel with the base-plate.
7 represents an identification certificate or similar paper, which is disposed within the receptacle and is protected from moisture by the stoppers above described.
It will be understood that various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the-advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1'. An identification receptacle badge, having a base-plate provided with means for securing the same to a garment, a receptacle carried by said base-plate and provided with open sides, elastic stoppers fitting in said open sides, and means to secure the stoppers in place substantially as specified.
2. An identification receptacle badge, having a receptacle provided with open opposite sides, waterproof stoppers fitted in said open sides, and a retaining band orholder extending around the receptacle and engaging the stoppers, substantially as specified.
3. An identification receptacle badge, having abase-plate provided with terminal transverse slots, an open-sided receptacle carried by said plate, stoppers fitting in the open sides of the receptacles, and means to secure the stoppers in place, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
DYER W. PERRY.
Witnesses:
