UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD BORNHOEFT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO STRAUOH BROS, OF SAME PLACE.
DAM PER-REGULATOR FOR PIANO-ACTIONS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 504,906, dated September 12, 1893.
Application filed April 27, 1893- Serial No. 472,016. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD BORNHOEFT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York,in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Damper-Regulators for Piano-Actions, of which the following is a specification.
This inventionrelates to an improved means for readily regulating the elevation of the damper over the string of agrand piano action.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation partly in section of myimproved damper regulator; Fig. 2 a top view of the block, showing the damper wire in section.
The letter a, represents the key of a grand action; I), is the damper lover; c, the string, and d, the damper, all as usual.
To the damper lever b, there is pivoted the damper block, to which the lower end of the damper wire 6, is secured. This block I do not make in one piece as usual, but in two pieces or sections f, and f Of these sections, the lower one is pivoted to the lever I), while the upper one is perforated for the reception of the lower end of wire 2, secured in place by set screw g. The sections f,f', are tapped in opposite directions for the reception of a right and left screw h, as shown. A guide rod 45 that prevents the upper section from revolving, when the screw is turned, passes through both the sections f, f.
1. A damper regulator consisting of a sec- 40 tional adjustable block of which one section is pivoted to the damper lever and the other section is connected to the damper wire, substantially as specified.
2. A damper regulator consisting of a sectional adjustable block and of a right and left screw engaging the two sections of the block, substantially as specified.
3. A damper regulator consisting of a sectional adjustable block, a right and left screw,
a guide rod engaging the two sections of the block and a clamp screw for securing the damper wire to the upper section, substantially as specified.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 22d day of April, A. D. 1893.
EDWARD BORNHOEFT.
