Description

(No Model.)
'T. MART-IN} I TICKET SAFE AND'MATGH HOLDER.-
No.503,9'74. I 'Pa-t eniie'dAug.29,1893.
THOMPSON MARTIN,
PATENT on NEW YORK, N. Y.
TICKET-SAFE AND MATCH-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 503,974, dated August 29, 1893.
Application filed June 26, 1891.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, THOMPSON MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and State vof New York, have invented an Improved Ticket-Safe and Match-Holder, of which the following is specification.
Holders for cards and similar-articles have been made with spring bottoms to press the cards up to place.
My present invention relates toacombined safe for matches and for holding car-tickets, ferry tickets or similar passes or tickets made use of in daily travel, and it is constructed with the peculiarities hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1. is a perspective view of the said safe. Fig. 2. is a vertical longitudinal section, and Fig. 3. is a cross section at the line m. w. of Fig. 2.
The body of the case is struck up out of one piece of sheet metal. The case A. is provided with one open end and with an opening 2. in one of the sides.
The follower B. is adapted to move freely within the case, and it is pressed toward the side of the case having the opening by a spring 0.
The partition D. separates the ticket holder and the match safe and there is a cover E. at the otherwise open end of the match safe F. which cover is preferably hinged to the partition D. and snaps down to place as usual in match boxes. It will now be observed that in consequence of the case A. being open at Serial No. 397,591. (No model.)
when any ticket is to be removed, the thumb or finger is pressed against the same at the opening 2, and slid along so as to move the end of the ticket out of the case where it can be easily grasped and drawn out, and the opening in the sides of the case is to be sufficiently large for easily observing the ticket to insure the withdrawal of the proper one, and as there are no separate parts that can become detached, the case is easily inserted into or removed from the pocket, and the tickets are sufficiently protected to prevent their becoming injured, even when kept for a considerable period of time, and the risk of losing or 'mislaying the tickets is reduced to the minimum.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combined match and ticket safe having a case of one piece of sheet metal with an open end and an opening in one side, a partition to separate the match safe from the ticket holder, a follower and aspring to press the tickets toward the side of the case having the opening and a cover to the match holder, substantially as specified.
2. The combined match and ticket safe having a case with an open end and an opening in one side, a partition to separate the match safe from the ticket holder, a follower and a spring to press the tickets toward the side of the case having the opening and a cover to the match holder hinged to the central partition substantially as specified.
Signed by me this 13th day of June, 1891.
. THOMPSON MARTIN.
