STAND FOR CYCLES.
No. 503,185. Patented Aug. 15, 1 893..
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWIN WOOD, OF WARMINSTER, ENGLAND.
STAND FOR CYCLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 503,185, dated August 15, 1893.
Application filed March 1'7, 1893- Serial No. 466,545. (No model.) Patented in England May 7, 1392, No. 8,672. and in France November 9, 1892,1Io. 225,533-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN Woon, machinist, asubject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Emwell Street, Warminster, in the county of Wilts, England, have invented a new and useful Improved Stand for Cycles, (for which patents have been granted in Great Britain, No. 8,672, bearingdate May 7, 1892, and in France No. 225,533, bearing date November 9, 1892,) of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved stand for cycles, which consists of a metallic standard and base, with several arms projecting from the top of the standard in various directions. The stand supports the cycle in such a manner that all the wheels are off the ground. The top projecting arms may be adjusted in or on the standard by being raised or lowered to suit the height of any cycle, the adjustment being held secure by means of a set screw or any other suitable fixing. If preferable the projecting arms which form the head may be jointed, or any other portion of the standard. I attain this object by the illustrations in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1, is a front elevation. side View of the top projecting arms. figure is broken off for convenience.
Like letters refer to like parts throughout the views.
Fig. 2, is a This Preferably I construct astandard e of tube and fix the same to a four-way base f. At the top of the standard e I fix a collar (1. This said collar is drilled and tapped with a female thread to receive a set screw cl. At the top I form a cross head a, with two curved arms covered with india rubber b. The said crosshead a is pivoted to an upright c which is inserted in the tube e as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 1.
It will be understood that the foregoing is given by way of illustration, and that the materials, parts and shapes may be varied in many ways within the scope of myinvention.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
In a stand for cycles, the combination of the two curved arms covered with india rubber on the cross-head pivoted to the upright and the collar and set screw fixed to the standard on the base substantially as herein described and according to the accompanying drawings.
