THREAD-CUTTING ATTACHMENT FOR THIMBLES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 502,036, dated July 25, 1893. Application filed April 17, 1893- Serial No. 470,609. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARY FOGG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Beaver Dam, in the county of Dodge, and in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thimble Attachments; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention has for its object to provide a sewing-thimble with an attachment that will serve as a thread-cutter, basting or seam-ripper and various other purposes necessitating an implement having a knife-edge and point.

To this end the said invention consists in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed.

Fast to the outer portion of the plate B in any suitable manner or by any suitable means is a steel blade 0 of any desirable contour but having its lower end in the form of a knife-edge and point, this blade being employed for the purpose of cutting thread drawn from a spool, ripping bastings or seams and for doing various other work incidental to sewing for which a sharp edged and pointed implement is convenient if not absolutely necessary.

The attachment herein described is light and economical in the matter of its construction and can be readily attached to any ordinary thimble, while at the same time it is as readily detached from said thimble and will be found of material advantage to any one employed in the art of sewing.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

An attachment for thimbles comprising a recurved springplate having offset prongs of less length than itself, and a cutting-blade projecting outward from the plate, substantially as set forth.
