Description

'(No Model.)
A D. BERLINE R ELECTRIC BBLT.`
UNITED nSTATES PATENT OEEICE.
ABRAHAM D. BERLINER, OF ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS.
ELECTRIC BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 501,861, dated July 18, 1893.
Application tiled June 23, 1892. Serial No. 437x753- (NO mdm To all whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM D. BERLINER, of Rock Island, county of Rock Island, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Contacts for Electric Belts, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in contacts for electric belts.
The object of the invention is to form a reliable Contact piece for the poles of the battery of an electric belt.
Figure 1 is a view of a portion of a belt in elevation, showing my invention; Fig. 2, a detail of one of the Contact points.
Like letters refer to like parts in the several views. l
A represents the body of the belt provided with a buckle or other ordinary fastening device B.
C, C represent my Contact points which preferably consist of disks convex on their outer faces. To the inner face of each disk there are secured two arms d, which are adapted to serve as means for fastening the disks to the belt, the arms d, of two of such disks being passed through both thicknesses of the stripa, and then bent at right angles to the aperture through which they are passed. D, represents a link preferably of copper wire one end of which is bent around the arms d, under the bent portion of said arms, the other end thereof being passed through a link e, of an ordinary battery E, suitably carried uponA the belt and then back upon the wire. I thus provide a simple, durable and efficient electrical connection between the battery and the contact points, means being thus provided for putting the lirst cell of the battery in electrical connection with one pole as will now be described.
Havingthus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination with the battery of an electric belt, of the contacts C having arms d, passed through one of the folds of the fabric of the belt, the links D having one end bent around the arms d of the contact, and the link e connected to the battery pole, the link D being carried through the link e and then back upon the wire composing said link D, so as to form a reliable electrical connection between the contacts C and its adjoining battery cell, substantially as specified.
In testimony of all which I have hereunto subscribed my name.
ABRAHAM D. BERLINER. Witnesses:
