Description
J. R. LYLB. NURSERY OASE PoR GHILDRBN'S GARRIAGES.
o 501520. Patented Ju1y18,1893.
(Nuv Model.) 1
W1/mw@ Wim/Essa? UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JENNIE R. LYLE, OF DOWAGIAC, MICHIGAN.
NURSERY-CASE FOR CHILDRENS cARRlAcEs.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 501,520, dated July 18, 1893. Application filed November '7, 1892.' Serial No. 451,271. (llo model.)
T0 all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, JENNIE R. LYLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dowagiac, county of Cass, State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Nursery-Case for Baby-Carriages, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide a baby carriage with a nursery case in a convenient position to be readily accessible to the nurse.
Another object consists in attaching the case to the handles of a baby carriage.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a rear elevation, showing the case attached to the handles of a baby carriage; Fig. 2 a side elevation of Fig. l, looking from a pointat the right; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective of lettered details from Figs. 1 and 2.
Referring to the lettered parts of the drawings, A represents the handles of a baby carriage, attached to the axle, B.
A little below the upper round of the handles, A A, are short hooks or rods, S S, attached to said handles and extending inward. To the lower portions of the handles and on the inside thereof are attached pockets or supports, D; or they may be like hooks S, or otherwise made.
The case is shown at E, which case may be made in any suitable form or of any suitable material, preferably having different compartments for different articles and having a lid, H, opening preferably ou the side next to the carriage, so as to be conveniently and readily accessible to the nurse in attendance without the handles interfering, owing to their being extended over to the rearward at the upper ends. This case rests upon the supports or pockets, D, at the base, and is attached at the top by the hooks, F, catching ou the rods S S, in a detachable manuel'. Thus the case may be readily attached to or detached from the handles.
To obviate undue bulging of the case rearwardly, a transverse rod, H', may be employed, attached to the handles intermediately be- -tween the top and bottom of the case, as shown in Figs. l and 2. However, this rod may be employed or not, as deemed advisable.
While it is deemed most desirable to attach the case to the handles, it may be detachably attached to some convenient portion of the body. I
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
1. The combination of the handles of ababy carriage, upper and lower supports attached to said handles, and a nursery case detachably and entirely supported thereby; substantially as set forth.
2. The combination of the handles of ababy carriage having the upper supports attached to them below the upper round, a transverse rod attached to the handles below the said supports, pockets or supports attached to said handles below the transverse rod, and a nursery case detachably supported by the upper and lower supports; substantially as set forth.
In testimony to the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JENNIE R. LYLE.
