SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 500,525, dated June 2'?, 1893.

tacle and means provided for detachably locking the partition or center piece therein; cheap and durable in its construction and of I great utility; and the further object being to produce an easy and convenient means for dividing barrels or other receptacles so that they may be reversed and the contents taken therefrom from either end or side, thereby obviating the necessity of removing all the contents from one side.

My invention consists in the several novel features of construction and operation hereinafter described and which are specifically set forth in the claims hereunto annexed. It is constructed as follows reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l, is a vertical section of a barrel, provided with one of my brackets securing a center head therein. Fig. 2,is a cross section on line nc x, in Fig. 1. Fig. 3, is a similar view showing a centerpiece provided with a dutchman for the purpose of enlarging it for an increased sized barrel. Fig. 4, is an inner View of a stave showing one of the brackets secured thereto. Fig. is a similar view thereof, showing a center piece supported by the bracket, and the ears bent out for the purpose of detachably securing the center piece therein.

A, is the bracket constructed preferably from a piece of sheet metal, having one of its edges bent up, at substantially a right-angle, as shown at -aforming the supporting arm Z9- Its opposite edge has its corners removed diagonally as shown at -cand forming the point -CZ- which is bent backwardly and preferably sharpened for the purpose of being embedded into the body of the receptacle and serves as auxiliary means for supporting the same therein.

e, are slotways in the ends of the side of the bracket having the corners removed so that they may be bent inwardly forming ears -for means for supporting the center piece vertically and perform the same function when the receptacle is reversed as the frame Z9- does in the position shown in the drawings. It will be observed that by using three or four of these with a barrel or receptacle,I can put in center pieces of any size desired, and in the case of a center piece where a receptacle is cylindrical, as in a barrel, a dutchman may be used to force out the center to the edges. My invention, however, lies wholly in the construction, manufacture and use of the bracket.

I do not confine myself to any particular y means for securing the bracket to the receptacle, as it will bev evident tha'. it may be bolted on or secured in any other manner desired.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A bracket comprising a plate bent Within to form an arm -b-, slotways in its opposite sides for the purpose of forming ears adapted to be bent inwardly so as to confine the partition, and means for securing the bracket, as set forth.

. 2. A bracket comprising a plate bent first to form an arm -b-, the opposite corners bein g removed to form the lug #-d, slotways -ein said plate for the purpose of forming the ears adapted to be bent. inwardly so as confine the partition between said ears and the arm -b.
