To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDMUND QWESTERVELT, of South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plow-Points and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a bottom View of my improved plow point and wing. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof. Fig. 3 is a top view.

This invention is an improvement in combined points and wings for plows, and its object is to make the point and wing integral, and at the same time reinforce and strengthen the point so that it will withstand greater strain and shocks incident to usage than the ordinary points, and to improve the connec-' tion between the point and standard, so that but one confining bolt will be necessary to secure the point and wing in working position.

The invention consists in the novel construction of the point and wing hereinafter described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings by letters; A designates the point and O the wing resembling an ordinary plow point and wing in top view. From the rear edge of point however and beneath the end of wing projects a rearwardly extending finger B which is adapted to underlie the toe of the plow standard, which fits in the recess 11 between the top of fingerB and end of wing. Then a bolt is passed through the opening 0 in the wing and secures the latter to the moldboard as usual. This bolt in connection with the finger B firmly secures the point and wing to the standard and moldboard, the finger enabling me to make one bolt secure both point and wing firmly. The finger underlying the end of standard takes all vertical strain off the securing bolts, and if, as frequently occurs, the entire weight of plow is thrown on the point as in turning the plow or in starting a furrow, the finger transmits the strain direct to the standard.

In chilled points a sudden drop or blow on the point while the plow is working will frequently break the point off the wing or wrench ofi the bolts, but in this construction the finger clasping the toe of the standard strengthens the point and prevents breakage. By this construction I lessen the number of securing bolts ordinarily required, yet firmly secure the parts in position and strengthen the plow point at its weakest part, transferring the up, down and back pressure on the point direct to the standard.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent thereon is;-

The herein described combined plow point and wing having a point, as A; a wing, as (3; and a rearwardly extending finger, as B, adapted to underlie the toe of a plow standard, all substantially as and for the purpose described.
