FINGER-NAIL CLEANER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 488,657, dated December 27,1892. Application filed August 29, 1892. Serial No. 444,428. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES WI LAUBIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Meridian, in the county of Lauderdale and State of Mississippi, have invented a new and useful Finger-Nail Cleaner, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a device to be used as a finger nail cleaner, in lieu of the ordinary nail-blades such as are attached to pocket-knives, the object in view being to provide a simple and compact article which may be carried in the vest pocket and which is provided with means to loosen or soften the accumulation beneath the finger-nails so as to facilitate its removal.
Further objects and advantages will appear hereinafter and the novel features will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:Figure 1 is a side view of a device embodying my invention, with the caps shown detached; Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view of the same, with the caps in place; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View of the blade.
A represents a hollow tube or reservoir, forming the body of the nail cleaner, and provided at one end with a projecting blade, B, and at the opposite end with a brush, 0. The ends of the body-portion or reservoir are slightly rabbeted, as shown at d d, to receive the caps, D D, which are removable, as shown in Fig. l.
I The blade is tapered toward its outer end and when not in use are held in place by frictional contact, the body of the device as well as said caps being preferably made of vulcanized rubber or similar material.
Having thus described my invention What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. A finger-nail cleaner comprising a hollow handle or reservoir bearing the nail-cleaning blade and means to feed the liquid contained in the reservoir to the blade during use, substantially as specified.
2. A finger-nail cleaner having a hollowhandle or reservoir, and a blade attached to one end of the handle and provided with a groove to receive the liquid contained in the handle or reservoir and convey it to the tip or point of the blade, substantially as specified.
3. A finger-nail cleaner having a hollow han die or reservoir, a blade attached to one end of the handle, adjacent to a feed perforation therein and a brush attached to the opposite end, substantially as specified.
4. A finger-nail cleaner havinga hollow handle or reservoir, and a concavo-convex tapered blade attached to one end of the handle or reservoir in proximity to a feed perforation in the end of the latter, substantially as specified.
