" ATENT HENRY D. sTREAToR, oF eALE'sBURe, MICHIGAN.
CHEES E-CAS E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 485,359, dated November 1, 1892.
Application tiled May 10, 1892. Serial No. 432,520. (No model.)
To all whom t may con/cern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY D. STREATOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Galesburg, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cheese-Cases; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in cheese-cases; and its object is to provide the same with certain new and useful features, hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is aside elevation of a device embodying my invention with the door omitted; Fig. 2, a vertical section of the same on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a plan View of the same with the top of the case and the turn-table D removed. y
Like letters refer to like parts in all of the figures. l
A is an ordinary rectangular case with glass sides, in the top of which is an opening B to permit the air to pass out. Said opening is provided with a screen B to exclude the dust and a slide C to close it, either partially or wholly, to regulate the flow of air through the case.
D is a circular turn-table to support the cheese, located near the bottom of the case and provided with a center pin E, which engages an opening in the bottom L of the case to keep the turn-table in place.
H is a ring attached to the bottom L, concentric to the pin E and beneath the turn-table, which excludes the crumbs of cheese from the space beneath said turn-table and is provided With a series of rolls F, journaled upon staples G, inserted in the upper side of the ring H, which rolls engage the under side of and support the turn-table.
K Kare parallel elongated openings or slits in the bottom L, which are partially or wholly closed by the strips I I, which strips are attached to the barJ, which bar is pivoted upon the center pin E by means of the opening E', through which said pin passes. Said bar is A prolonged at one side and is' extended beyond the edge of the turn-table D, passing between it and the ring H. By grasping this extended end and moving this bar about the axis of the pin E the strips I are adjusted over the openings K to close or open the same. When said openings are wholly closed, a pin O stops the movement of the bar J.
N are legs attached to the bottom ofthe case, which support the same a short distance above a tray M, adapted to contain water. The air passes through the opening between said tray and case, and absorbing water from the tray passes upward through the openings K and keeps the cheese on the turn-table from becoming dried, and finally passes out at the top opening B, being regulated in its flow through the case by turning the bar J and moving the slide C. By lifting the turn-table the pin E is readily withdrawn from the openings in the bar J, and the bottom L, the turntable D, bar J, and strip I are thus easily removed from the case for cleaning or other purposes.
What I claim is- 1. In a cheese-case, in combination with a case having a top opening and a watertray beneath said case, a turn-table, a center pin, a ring beneath said table having rolls supporting said turn-table, parallel openings in the bottom of the caseat each side of said pin, strips covering said openings, and a bar attached to said strips having an opening engaging said pin, said bar also extended above and outside of said ring, substantially as described.
2. In a cheese-case, in combination with a case having top openings and a Water-tray beneath said case, a turn-table having a center pin, parallel elongated openings at each side of said pin, strips covering said openings, and a transverse bar attached to said strips and having an opening engaging said pin, said bar also prolonged at one end beyond the edge of said turn-table, substantially as described. t
In testimony whereof I aftix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY D. STREATOR.
