SEALING-WAX MOLD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 483,512, dated September 27, 1892.

Be it known that I, JOHN O. ECKERT, a citizen ot' the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sealing-Wax Molds; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to zo which it appertains to make and usethe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in sealing-wax molds, the several features of which will be fully 0hereinafter set forth and claimed.
The object of my invention is to cool the zo molds, so that the cakes of sealing-wax formed therein may be more rapidly handled than if the cooling is slower. f

3 5 A is awooden frame consisting of side rails held by cross-pieces and supported on legs.
At the center of the cross-pieces E are bearings for the shaft 3, and on this are attached the wire cams of vparts l and 2 between two molds. Said wire cams consist of a cylindrical part 2 and the wire l, bent outwardly from its axis and laterally, so that when the free ends are t-urned up the closing-plates s are held against the sides of the molds. These closing-plates have plane surfaces and arms at their centers extending outwardly, on which the weights w are attached which hold the closing-plate from the sides of the molds. The ends of the plates rest on the side rails between the molds and the angular plates t t 5o and bear against lugs of said plates in their normal position. To move the wire cams, a hand-wheel D is attached to the shaft. The space between the ends of the wire of the cam is greater than the space between the closingplates when they are in a vertical position, and as a consequence when the cams are turned so that the free ends bear against the closing-plates the same close the sides of the molds by the resiliency of said wire. The 6o cast-iron plates B are secured to the top of the frame, and within the sides is a series of recesses w to receive the corrugated plate C, forming the top of the mold. On the ends are lugs, to which are attached the pipes 5 65 and 6, and these connect with the pipe 4, which is connected with a reservoir of water, and on the end opposite of the pipes is an orifice c, through which the water may iiow into the trough 7, held on the side of the frame, 7o and the elevation of said orifice is such that when the water is turned in the mold is filled.
In operation the wire cam is turned to carry the plates against the sides of the mold, the wax is poured in the same, and when cooled the said wire cam is again turned, thereby letting the said closing-plates fallback, so that the cakes of wax may be removed.
I claim- The combination, in a hollow mold, with 8o parts B and C, the closingplates s, with counter-weights w to hold said plates from the sides of the molds, and the wire cam, of parts l and 2, held on shaft 3 to hold said plates against the sides of said mold while the melted wax is hardening, substantially as set forth.
