GAME-COUNTER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 480,815, dated August 16, 1892.

Application filed April 29, 1892. Serial No. 431,147- (No model.)

Be it known that I, PHILIP HALE, J12, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Arapahoe and State of 0010- rado, have invented a new and useful Game- Oounter, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvementsin game-counters; andit consists in the construction and arrangement of the parts thereof, as will be more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

The object of this invention is to provide a game-counter which is especially adapted for use in Pedro, wherein the parts are simple and efi'ective in their construction and operation, strong and durable, easily handled, and readily understood.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the counter. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the counter opened. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 of the reverse side of the counter. Fig. 4 is a transverse vertical section on the line an 00, Fig. I.

Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a back or support, which is formed with a series of ears 2 cut from the material from which the device is produced. Located between the said ears are elongated strips 2, which bear numerals on the faces thereof running from 0 to 9, and have upturned ends 3, the said strips being held by the ears 2*, which are bent thereover in such manner as to permit the said strips to be freely moved thereunder. Over the said back or support 1 is mounted or located a front plate 4, having a series of openings 5, centrally located therein, and flanges 6, cut from the material of said plate and bent up to niovably engage a transverse slide 7, having upturned ends 8. The

said slide 7 is also formed with a series of openings 9, adapted to align with the openings 5, and both of said openings 9 and 5 are situated over the strips 2, to thereby display the numerals on these said strips.

The counter entire is constructed of any suitable material adapted for the purpose, and the back 1 and front plate 4 are preferably of integral formation, and to the end of the said plate 4 is secured a flap 10, which is bent back over the back or support 1, and thereby securely holds the several parts intact.

In counting with the device the slide 7 is moved backward and forward transversely across the plate 4, so that the openings therein will align with the different openings 5, and thereby make it convenient to count with one or more strips 2. The said strips 2 are also moved or slid under the ears supporting the same to bring consecutive numbers thereon under the said openings 5 and 9 of the said slide 6 and plate 4, as heretofore set forth.

The device is of simple construction and of considerable utility and may be cheaply produced.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is In a game-counter, the combination of a back or support having slide-strips therein bearing numerals thereon, a front plate over said strips having openings therein, and a transversely-adjustable slide carried by said front plate and provided with a series of openings to align with the aforesaid openings, substantially as described.
