SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 479,683, dated July 26, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, EDGAR H. TRUMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVilmington, in the county of New Castle and State of Delaware, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Game Apparatus, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top or plan view of my improved game apparatus; Fig. 2, a central vertical section of the same, and Fig. 3 a side elevation of the tiltihg disk.

My invention relates to improvements in apparatus designed for social amusement and recreation; and its object is to provide a simple, novel, and inexpensive device which may be utilized fora variety of diverting games.

The invention consists of a circular box containing one or any desired number of balls and a tilting disk or circular tablet provided on its surface, and at or near its center with one or more pockets adapted to engage said balls.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, A designates the circular box or holder, and B the tilting disk or tablet within it, supported on the apex of an inverted cone 0 and having about centrally a series of pockets D. The box and disk may be conveniently made of card board. The cone may also be made of the samematerial by cutting asegment of card in the proper form, bringing the ends together and fastening the base of the cone to the bottom of the disk by cement. If preferred, the cone may be made of wood, having the surface immediately beneath the central part of the disk cut away to provide space for the balls E to occupy the pockets. The size of the balls is so graded that they may rest in but not pass through the pockets.

The operation of the device is easily underderstood. The player holds the box in one or both hands and without touching the tablet or balls endeavors to guide the latter and stop them in the pockets. It will be observed that the tablet is capable of a compound movement and will tilt in any direction or gyrate on its periphery in accordance with the impulse imparted by the hand of the player.

The device may be employed to illustrate the difliculty of redeeming property which has been placed in pawn. The player may imagine that he has pledgeda watch or other valuable article and that he is offered a chance to redeem it by a game with the three balls. If he can guide the first ball into the center pocket, the article is redeemed. If the first ball should stop in an outside pocket and the second in the center, he has merely paid the interest and may make another eifort. If two of the balls should stop in outside pockets, he forfeits the article. Other games will be readily suggested.

What -I claim as new is In a game apparatus, in combination with a case or holder, the herein-described circular tilting tablet or disk, provided about centrally with one or more cavities or pocket-s adapted to engage one or more balls, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
