IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF SILVERED GLASSWARE,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent- No. 17,948, dated May L0, 1865.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN W. HAINES, of
'Somerville, in the'county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Mode of Stoppering Silvered Glassware, consisting of a metallic stopper which protects the silver lining or the inside of double glass- Ware from air, thereby retaining the silver cast; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in, after having put on my silver lining on the inside of double glassware, covering the grooves cf metallic stopper (marked A) with a substance composed of glue and cement, and then force it into the hole or the bottom of the silvered glassware, where it remains fast, as well as making it air-tight.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The stopperiug of the hole on the bottom of double glassware silvered with a metallic stopper, as herein described.
