Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 47,606, datedMay 2, 1865.`
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. SLocUM, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented i an Improvement in the Manufacture of Metal Boxes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to theletters of reference marked thereon.
My invention consists in the manner, described hereinafter, of securing together the two ends of a strip of tin, so that thesarne may be used for the side of a box such as is used for containing blacking and other materials. l
In order to enable others to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe the mannerof carrying it into effect.
On reference tothe accompanying drawings, which form a part of this speciiication, Figure l represents a strip of tin to .be formed into the side -of the box; Fig. 2, a sectional view showing the strip as bent, preparatory to the fastening together of the ends; Fig. 3, the same with the ends secured together, and
